Hi,

Has anyone looked at changing the ballast on their headlights. I think that is where the power rating is from and the bulbs will be the same. When I converted my bike, I had the same bulbs and 35w and 55w ballasts.

I find these dark and rainy nights very difficult to navigate when zooming down dark country lanes and everyone else seems to have brighter lights.

I will take a look in a couple of weeks, when time allows, but just wondered if this has been discussed, as search didn't reveal anything.

Yes, ballast and bulb, and they are not interchangeable from other threads.

First step is make sure the tilt control isn't pointing them at the floor.

I ran about for a couple of weeks with this ^^^ and thought these lights were shit!!

The I found the tilt control :D. They're not the brightest headlights though. Coming from my Z which were razor sharp, but the were bi-xenon, or whatever it is that requires headlamp washers

I have to admit, the lights on the EU Mustang are really shit !! :frusty:

After modding them to the US 35w D3S model, the light output is now way better as the OEM 25w but not the best

But when you look at the Manders's link from Facebook, the Reflector is also different, so even with the US 35w ballast + bulbs, your light output will not be same as the US model. To be perfect and to have almost the same output as the US model, IMO you have to put 45w or 55w HID to you car.

Other way would be to open the light and replace the reflector for a better one

And unfortunately legality in the UK is that a 35W bulb requires washes :headbonk:!

I didn't read the facebook link but in the US (and probably elsewhere) the right and left side reflectors aim the light differently because roadside and oncoming traffic are on different sides which is a good thing. So a different part number would be required for each side in a market that drives on the other side of the road. Any chance that is the only difference between the US and UK reflectors?

US ones are bigger reflectors, ours are angled into the light to 'fake' the DRLs etc etc.
