Greetings,

I have a 2022 Mustang GT Premium with a manual transmission and a 3:55 rear end. It does not have the Performance Package. Just totally upgraded the suspension, and I am loving it.

Has anyone installed 3:73 gears into their base differential? If so how did you like it. I really do not want to spend the money on a Torsen or Wavetrac. I just want more at low RPM's. What did you also do about getting the speedometer to match the new rear end 3:73 gears?

Please advise.

Thanks.................

I replaced mine. All beit mines a base '17 300A GT. Going from 3.31 to 3.73 was a night and day difference (for the better). With yours, going from 3.55 to 3.73 you won't notice a lot. I'd go 4.30.

BTW, if your looking for low RPM grunt, you bought the wrong car. Cause there is none.

Not big enough of a change to make it worth it. As long as you don't have the 3.15:1 pumpkin you should be OK.

I would move on to a set of 4.09s or forget about it.

After 2019 you will need a tune to adjust for the gears. Up until 2019 you could adjust with Forscan.

Have to agree, while you will notice a slight difference with the 3.73, the 4.09's would definitely be the better choice.

Lots of mods are very expensive. The question is, was it worth it?
Yes….!!
Ford charged me a little over $63,000 for the OEM 3:73 gears, but threw in all the rest of the GT350 parts and the labor.

Please correct me if I'm misunderstanding but I thought it was easier to swap the whole pumpkin than to change the gears.

At a minimum, you have to drop the rear sub-frame to remove the diff cover, correct? Pretty sure you're better off removing the diff from the car to do the work.

I upgraded to 3.73 in my 2015 auto car and loved them it pulled hard. But my 2019 manual is boosted and has 3.73’s I can’t wait to swap in the 3.31’s I have laying around because I want to stay in boost longer
