My battery is not holding a charge well, but I knew that when car sat for over 8 months at dealer (it's always the same). Also saw that Ford put a crappy battery on our Bullitts (wet cell), so would like to buy an AGM instead... but I couldn't find any in 96R size. Why is our battery the same as the 2.3EB with less than half the displacement, half the cylinders, and much lower compression ratio? Makes no sense. Hopefully somebody else has done this, to hear what was his choice.

Read that some Fusion switched to a group 48, which is significantly larger, so at least the sleeve wouldn't fit. And wouldn't like even more weight on the nose. Ha ha. Would consider a Li-Ion battery if they were more advanced by now. They're a royal PITA in winter; same with motorcycles. So what choices do I have now? If nothing AGM is available, would a local dealer (bought car out of town) replace it? Don't think it's a legitimate warranty claim, especially with 300 miles on the clock, but am I right? Thx.

Get it replaced by the dealer under warranty. It’s bumper to bumper.

I would definitely agree to get it replaced ASAP. I bought mine with 45 miles, the dealer tried to limit test drives, so I guess it sat for a while.
When I test drove it, it had a CEL that they took care of with a new battery. I think some of the Mastercraft batteries in the Mustangs are having issues.

If you replaced the battery in your own you would have to reset the BMS for it to not cause a CEL to come up. You can either do this through FORScan if you are okay using it or getting the dealer to do it for a charge that may not be covered by warranty. Getting the dealer to replace the battery is your best and cheapest option.

That's not true. That's only to reset the charging logic, since the system compensates for battery age, and charges a little less over time. Yes, it's better to reset it (which I did), but many folks don't, and nothing happens, especially when the car is that new.

By the way, I replaced the stock battery with a 96R DieHard AGM from Advanced Auto Parts. Yes, dealer would have replaced it for free, but didn't want another crappy flooded cell battery... nor having to leave car at a dealer just for that, so paid out of pocket for a better one :).
