I’ve got the Magnaflow tru-x with active mufflers and will agree it’s a little on the quiet side.

This clip with it with Roush axle backs sounds pretty killer though:
^^^^
This is exactly the way car sounds, Roush X pipe & axel backs
Mean as hell....

Title mentions resonator, X pipe removes it no room for both.

He has the Magnaflow Tru-x. Its a resonated X-pipe.

Interesting, oh I see the X is hidden makes sense now,. . What I like about Roush ABs the best, no matter how the car is driven, smooth 3k shift points too aggressive, it sounds off. Good clean crisp tone, not a tuner sound.

Going to weight the parts removed. The ABs together are only 33lbs, the stock are for sure heavier + suit case.

Anyway great sound clip, have not heard one that demonstrates the sound so exact.

Thumbs up !

Hi all,

I've been trying to fine tune the sound of my 2018 GT, and I can't quite seem to find what I like the most. I started with simple MBRP axle-backs with my stock resonators. Loved it, but wanted a hair more growl and "deepness" in the exhaust, so I went with an H-pipe, and now my car is straight piped. While sure it sounds cool, it's not something I can live with.

What are some of your combos, or suggestions? I was thinking of going back to the stock resonator, I tried out the Magnaflow Tru-X resonated mid-pipe, it made the car too quiet even with the MBRP Axle-Back.

Thanks in advance, y'all!
I see 4 options:

1. Go back to the stock resonator
2. Add Vibrant bottle resonators - should tame down rasp and some volume but still be louder than the stock resonator
3. Different axle back with mufflers
4. New catback

Options 3 and 4 are obvoiusly going to be the most costly. A Roush axle back is still going to be very loud with the H-pipe.

I currently have a Roush axle back with the stock resonator. I wouldn't mind it a little more volume, but I know a resonator delete will make it a LOT louder. I'm considering doing a resonator delete X-pipe and Vibrant resonators at the same time.

Consider 1 step at a time, that way you have more control of the out come.

Don't agree with a lot louder, cold star most definitely, after the first min RPM drops, that tones down.

The Magnaflow Tru-x mentioned, looks to be good option for what you think you're after.

From what I know of the Tru-X, it's about as quiet as stock so there wouldn't be much point in switching to that. I'm thinking the bottle resonators would be less of a volume killer but still a noticeable difference from the stock resonator. I understand the idea of trying the X-pipe alone first, in case I like it that way, but I'm pretty skeptical.

Never heard of the Tru-X until this thread. Being curious found the clip below. Does not sound stock to me.

Car start up, time 4.16

See what you think. Understand being skeptical for sure.

The MF tru x quiets everything down almost to stock levels in many cases. People with Whipples and headers are still pretty quiet. All depends how much volume you want (or don't want).

To be clear my preference, installed is Roush X pipe and ABs

Little follow up, gents.

Ended up getting a Steeda H-pipe and Steeda axle-back. So far I'm really liking the combo.

If I get tired of this setup, I do have some Vibrant 1792s I might weld on to my H-pipe and go back to the MBRP axle-backs.

Thanks all for the recommendations!

I have the MBRP cat back race version, this sounds perfect to me. Growls like V8 should! And yes it's loud. But all I ever get is compliments, even from chevy guys old and young.
