So I found a company that turns your H pattern to a sequential transmission. It’s like the transmission mounted short throw shifter that MCW makes. I’m curious to see if anyone has used it here???? I’ll post the link so you guys can take a look at it.

Keep in mind if they do offer something for the S550 in the future, you can not skip gears up shifting or down shifting. You will have to shift through every gear for example if you’re in 6th and you push the clutch and coast to a stop at a stop light you will still have to shift to 5th then 4th then 3rd and so on back to 1st gear. I looked into this as an option several years ago and considered it when I was debating on putting a T56 back in my ‘03 Cobra (has had a 4r70w since 2004). One of the members on SVTPerf. Did the swap and liked it at first but said it got old shifting every single gear when daily driving around town. He also mentioned it took a good bit of effort to shift the shifter and had to use a longer handle to help (which in my opinion looks odd having a shifter handle sticking 12 inches plus above the console. I’ve since moved on to bigger better ideas 🤔😉 (aka BMW 7 speed DCT swap) several companies make the adapters to bolt one up to a Coyote along with the transmission controls to use it and they’re relatively cheap and can hold quite a bit of power. Stock up to 750 lbs/ft with higher fluid pressure and up to 1200+ lbs/ft with aftermarket clutches. Just my .02 cents (plus taxes of course).

Us motorcycle people do this daily. No big deal.

Probably better to share their actual website.

My bad I found it on instagram and had basic questions.

I’m more Curious about if anyone has tried it before right now. I’ve always wanted a sequential transmission but don’t know if I want to put up 15k to have one done in a car I only put two thousand miles a year on. Then again I have zero interest in selling it so I’m not sure exactly what I want to do.

I’m pretty sure I have the thread on svtperf on my watch list. I'll try and find it and post a link here to it so you can read his experience with it. it's in a 2003 or 2004 Cobra but its the same shifter and same company so the experience should be no different.

The 03 Cobra has a T56.

The S550 mustang GT has an MT82. This company doesn't make a sequential shifter for the MT82 or any of the other manual transmissions that came stock in S550 mustangs. You'd have to swap in a T56 or TR6060 and by then you may as well just buy a real sequential.

A real sequential will cost 20-25k when it’s all said and done. The gear sets need replacing about every 6000-7000 miles per my research and they will cost between $5k - $10k a pop. They are meant to be driven hard so if you plan to do any light cruising with one you will probably be miserable. Loud and clunky. Plus don’t forget there is computer control inputs that need tuning to initiate throttle cut on upshifts and rev match on down shifts (since no clutch is used to shift) and these are very precise points and duration and takes time to adjust and get right. I did a shit ton of research on a sequential for my car as well. Not for me.
A t56 or tr6060 swap would cost much less and not require any tuning in order to use one of the available S1 shifters and you’ll have a better transmission to boot.
You could always reach out to S1 and see if they have anything in the works for the MT82. Who knows they may be willing to work with you to come up with a shifter for the MT82. Honestly I’m surprised they don’t have one yet.

It was a joke. Agreed you'd be about 13-15k into the trans and physical parts alone before any ECU tuning, but that's the price to play with big boy stuff.

there are 2 people on TMO (TrackMustangsOnline) who have the s1 shifter paired with Magnum XL transmission. Both very good feedback. If I could spend $6-7k on a new transmission set up right now I would definitely be getting one.

Here is one of them https://trackmustangsonline.com/threads/fabmans-build-how-did-we-get-here.11501/page-146#post-277088

Ahhh. My bad lol. I was all excited about a sequential trans until I spent time looking into it. For a track only car I don’t know of anything better, but for a street car with some track use. Definitely better options.
You are right though, takes big money to play with the big boys lol. 😂
