I guess my question back to those in #2 would be what expectation(s) wasn’t/weren’t met to this point (remember, full details still haven’t been released). Ford said they were targeting sub-7 at the Ring. Accomplished that, even in less than ideal track conditions. Trackcar that is street legal? Checked that box too. It’s based on the S650, so I guess I’m not sure why some think the interior would be drastically different. Maybe the more track/race focused trims will be a little different on the interior? Unfortunately we just don’t know because nothing has been released to the public yet. And if some owners are now in their selection window, they’re under NDA and probably can’t say anything yet. When something, or someone doesn’t meet your expectations you can do one of two things. 1. Lower your expectations 2. Rip the thing/person for not living up to your expectations. There are a lot of #2’s on here.
Agreed, some of the comments from the naysayers are just pedantic.I guess my question back to those in #2 would be what expectation(s) wasn’t/weren’t met to this point (remember, full details still haven’t been released). There’s only a handful of prototypes floating around right now and the full specs haven’t been released yet so I guess I would say to those folks to just wait until everything comes out. Then if you still don’t think it meets your expectations, fair enough.
I think it’s great Ford is even putting out a car like this when they don’t really have to and when others are folding up and going home. Same goes for GM, the ZR1 looks to be very impressive as well, and at a time when GM appears to be going all in on the electric movement. Those of us that love V8’s should be rooting for both of these cars to be great and successful, there’s not many remaining at this point.
I’m curious to see how much time Ford can shave off their Ring time in better conditions. If they get closer to 6:45, will some of the naysayers change their tune? Maybe, maybe not. TBD on that one.
Read the comments in this article. Vette guys are no different than us. Some people will bitch about anything.Agreed, some of the comments from the naysayers are just pedantic.
I don’t care what they say eitherRead the comments in this article. Vette guys are no different than us. Some people will bitch about anything.

Yikes. I'm no where near being in a position to afford the GTD, but I cant imagine choosing it over other cars at that price point, unless I had like absolute crazy money where you can just get one of whatever you like... and I'm a diehard Mustang fan, albeit disillusioned with the s650 and the GTD.I can say that my interest is waining. No significant information has been conveyed to me and I have an early build (Mar thru Jun engagement). This car was supposed to BEAT the competition on its own turf (ie the GT3RS). That didn't happen. I understand that conditions weren't optimal, but it wasn't for the AMG either.
This car is going to cost a shit load of money. I still can't figure out why. It went from 300K to 320K. Rumor is that it's a built in ADM to shut the dealers up.
Then there is the weight which hasn't been disclosed yet. A heavy car eats up the brakes and tires. You can't completely negate mass. You engineer around it, but it's still there.
Back to the price. I estimate my car will be 400k with my (perceived) options. Again, zero information. I got more info working around area 51. Look around. You can buy a whole lot of car for 400K.
So far I have been very unhappy with the way this has gone so far. From the time of my acceptance, I know essentially nothing. The car is based on a steel chassis that sports the same engine that my 500 has. I have demonstrated that the same engine running at Daytona flat out runs out of gas. The GTD (last I heard from unofficial but well informed sources) says that it will have a 16 gallon tank, just like the 500.
How embarrassing would it be to not complete a session at Daytona in this car running flat out?
I am waiting until my engagement window where I will (maybe) (finally) get some information and answers.
Since I don't know anything and nothing has been provided, I have not violated my NDA.
Oh, and I appreciate not being included in the Detroit GTD event around the corner.

That sounds like an expert in the Mustang arena that they should consult before they make a car like this. I don’t blame you for not having information and being asked to pay that kind of money. They should’ve provided a lot more information about the car at this point with 2025 already rolled around.I can say that my interest is waining. They have their own experts. Somewhat of a rant out of frustration, but I don't regret a word. 2+2=? It has to add up.That sounds like an expert in the Mustang arena that they should consult before they make a car like this. It's very similar to the Ford GT allocation process (public knowledge) and for what I understand, the same people are running the GTD Program from the perspective of allocation management (again, public knowledge).I’d be curious to know if there was also a similar lack of information/communication when this process occurred for the most recent generation Ford GT. If that was not the case, whoever is running the GTD process sounds like maybe they shouldn’t be
