IMSA is "struggling" as well. PWC seems to do a much better job with BOP. You can't blame the teams they showed up with a car and were allowed to run it. Mustang makes out in the end because their basic setup stays relatively the same while Camaro has to start from scratch every weekend.

I checked the results and it appears the Camaro teams, at least the top 2, have fastest laps of the race by .2 or so. This would indicate that they are still fast and not that bothered by the weight gain. Same thing happened last year with the Porsche 997.

Speaking of the Porsche teams, what the heck happened to them at COTA? They were WAY down the finishing order!

I saw a post on my Facebook page from a GS driver saying Chevy was docked 26 manufacturer points at COTA. No word on why, and no info on the IMSA site. I have a friend racing in the ST class and am going to try and get more info. Stay tuned!

For broadcast TV purposes, the Continental series is considered a "support" series for the Tudor series....so it has a lower TV broadcast priority.

Probably caught cheating again like black dogg was last year in PWC.

Rumor has it that GM falsified the HP numbers for the LS7.

This was posted to my Facebook page by a IMSA driver:

"The rumor I heard was that Chevy falsified HP numbers on the Z28's engine. Apparently they took an M3 motor and a Z28 Motor to Charlotte last week and ran them on a Dyno.

Letting that car in the class was a mistake and we all said it at Daytona. We've dealt with our own Z28 in ST all year as well."

This should make for some juicy debating!

LOL FB was a fire during the Roar due to excessive black smoke from the GM camp. I recall plenty of Conti incar footage passed around the ST class drivers at COTA last year showing a certain car just driving around the field.

I never blame the teams only the Series. But yes GM may have a little history with 'struggling for performance' then owning the field after BOP adjustments. That said Ford has become much more competitive so it all goes around and I just enjoy close racing so I typically enjoy most of the GT type racing.

So much this^.
And perfectly stated, thnx.

Even the Vette can't compete against the Z. It's purpose is used for marketing & to generate Camaro sales. (uber halo)

I spend hours in paddocks, & am leaning towards Fords, because I like what they are doing more than I do with BMW. Mulally put some engineers at the top of product development & it shows. Less marketing, moAr engineering, & thus proving it in competition..

Coincidentally, how soon do you think we'll see a BMW M4 & SVT GT350 have at it, in competition..?

We should see the new chassis by May/June. Sooner if development goes better than expected. Assuming every one doesn't pull out
Of IMSA LOL. More unhappy then happy teams. The shunt Ricky
Took from Gus with no penalty for avoidable contact is just adding fuel to the fire.

With all the help IMSA is handing the z28 in CTSCC and Chevy still needs to cheat. The manufacturer and vehicle should be removed from the class all together for many reasons, not just cheating.

The class is ruined but, I do feel it is a little better than last year.

They should be docked those back to back to back wins... They have literally altered racing history by cheating and handing capping the competition. It's bullshit and any member on here who thinks otherwise isn't seeing clearly.

I don't think IMSA should just hand Chevy a championship for effort. The platform sucked, the LS3 sucked, the LS7 sucks... remove it from the class...

It's a sorry situation when a 7 liter V8 not only needs the rest of the field to be down 100hp per the rulebook (40% restriction on the M3 and Boss), they feel they need to cheat beyond that. That is a perfect example of Team Camaro's integrity. By now, we should all be aware they lie, cheat and steal at every opportunity. So no, I don't buy the Lightning Lap or any of the magazine comparisons. They are no doubt ringers...

Where did this quote come from? I was on board with this man/woman since January and, I reported my frustration here. I'm hoping they strip the Camaro of it's points and boot it the hell out of IMSA. It's a full size coupe... Are they kidding?

For the most part, I try not to mislead people when it comes to Motorsports and what's allowed and what is not. The OEM 2014 z28 is not permitted in a mass majority of organized racing, pretty much limited to "Driving Events" in your $80,000 race car. Another area I flipped on was the Z/28.R being allowed in CTSCC. Now we find out they have been cheating, probably all year long, I didn't even bring that into question here (In magazines, I have accused them of cheating but not racing). I was concerned about the minimum weight allowance, the huge LS7, all the Carbon Fiber body panels, the possibility that the suspension/transmission/brakes were completely different and of course, absolutely NO homologation at all in a supposed "Factory" class. Was I wrong???

Where are these motorsports experts now? No one wants to defend a manufacturer that was caught cheating?

...again...

I'm sure he has all the links necessary to prove what he says is true.

Or are we just supposed to take his word for it.

So far, I'm not convinced.

thePill likes to color his comments, & occasionally gets some things wrong, but fully admits it when he is. As nobody can know all the rules & regs. Additionally, I have found his insight to be spot on.

Plus, I like his digs at the Camaro...
