So a friend of mine just bought a gt500. It wasn't long before he made it clear that he would drive away from my 350... and is so confident he's willing to bet pretty big on it.

Im confident that Ive got him covered with around 100 more hp and being probably 250lbs lighter. The only wildcards here are the transmission and a little bigger tire on the 500. Im better than average at banging gears.. its just getting out the first 60' where traction does not exist that has me concerned... I can't imaging the 500 would be any better to 60'...

Thoughts??

If your talking a 2020, you may not want to push it. The 500 with 235 more HP and the DTC. your buddy is correct. Now, a road course, you stand a chance

Yeah, what year GT500? Can't be a current production with the supercharged 700+HP engines. If it is, just concede now, and not embarrass yourself.

I'm guessing the OP has a blower on his 350. I think he can walk him if the 500 is stock and the 350 is putting down about 750.

the op has a Whipple with about 100 more horsepower than the GT500. that's why it'll be close.

That 850 is at the crank. It's probably about 750 wheel, so it will walk it.

Different cars - different strengths. Pick your poison. GT350 pure hands on, anti autonomous, demands you to be a better driver. GT500 brutal tech, power and competitive across the board, enables you to be a better driver.

My choice is clear, but I don't dispute others' motivations or challenge them on the road.

Itā€™s all about traction and driver. Whoever has traction will win.

Iā€™ve dig raced my dad in his 2020 gt500 in my stock power gt350. I get him solid till around 100mph and then he walks me by about 15 mph and pulling harder

If I had 100 more horsepower than him, he would never catch up.

Put us together on the track and all that power is negated and I take the win 99% of the time
