two different cars... 350 was all about track twisting performance. The 500 is all about a straight line. I doubt the two will overlap much. Plus, I've read the 500 will NOT have the voodoo engine but a SC coyote. so theres that...

Where did you hear that?? Everything released so far says this will be a faster GT350 and meant for the track, not the dragstrip

And by SC Coyote, you mean the 5.2L mill rumored to be code named "Predator", that's being reworked so it can actually survive 700+ horsepower for its entire life.

Agreed. Look at the Camaro SS 1LE and the...ahem, ZL1 1LE. Who puts 6 pot front, 4 pot rear brakes hugging rotors the size of serving platters and 30 aspect ratio tires on a "drag strip" car?

History. It was always the intent of the Shelby 350 to be a road car. 350 had small block, low to the ground and light and the 500 a big block with a much high stance. Two diff cars with two diff purposes. Could be diff this time around but doubt it.

You can see this work in real world with superbikes as well. The 600ish sport bikes own the shit out of the 1000+ rockets up on tail of the dragon. For where I ride around here, I traded my Ducati 1200 for an 848. Lighter, more nimble and you can ring it out. Not as good in a straight line, but hey, you can’t have it all.

Here are my thoughts.

The Zl1 1LE in the hands of very skilled driver will certainly be very capable on the track but will probably destroy the tires in very short order from the massive torque and extra weight on the nose from the supercharger,

I think the GT 500 will be similar and hopefully even more capable with a skilled driver but will still suffer from tire wear and will certainly carry more weight or equall weight to the camaro.

The GT 350 with mere mortals is a very easy car to drive fast because it is so well balanced, put it in the hands of a skilled driver and its a very hard package to beat and as the laps build up I feel any advantage the other cars have will slowly go away as the laps continue. The Porsche GT3s are not the most powerful cars but they make up for it with a very balanced package.

At the end of the day though they are all amazing vehicles in whatever flavor you choose.
