As a long time BMW fanatic,
Owned 07' 335i, 07' X3, 09' 335i, 09' M3, 11' Z4 35is, 11' M3 Coupe, 13' 335i, 13' M3 Coupe, 14' M5 Sedan and a 15' M4 Coupe..

With that said, the E92 M3 was the unicorn among high revving, awesome sounding V8's in the late 2000's.

The S65 is a great motor. Great sound as well.
The E92 M3 itself.. good handling car. A bit portly in regards to weight (seriously who here was calling the M3 lightweight compared to the GT350, you must be out of your mind)
Looks a bit dated now with all the new M offerings though.

Now, BMW did a lot to make the S65 based car wanted even after almost 8-9 years.
That being said, this is bit of a dumb argument. The GT350 does almost everything better than the E92 M3.

The GT350 looks FRESH.
Sound goes to the GT350. Power goes to the GT350. Handling goes to GT350. Better suspension goes to the GT350. It has nicer seats (both track pack and tech). I would say it looks better subjectively. It's newer. It's more reliable at the moment. It's more of a looker and will give you more attention. The GT350 is WAY faster than the E92 M3. The navigation is quite intuitive thanks to SYNC 3. iDrive is atrocious to use still even in 2015. Older iDrive's (E92 M3 era is cancerous comparatively) is very dull and ugly. Did I really need to even reiterate that point of performance by the way? Who is seriously comparing them performance wise? The GT350 WALKS all over the M3.

I had this argument on the M2 vs GT350 forum were someone said the M2 was going to be close to the GT350 in terms of performance and I had to shut them down on that wish.. REAL quick.
Wow that's quite a vehicle history  I still love my E92 335i (N54 engine) but I'm looking to get a GT350 soon to replace it.

But why do you think a GT350 is so superior to a new M2 in terms of performance? The M2 puts down VERY similar numbers to the GT350. It isn't that hard to believe either. The M2 is 400lbs lighter with similar torque. In fact, I think a DCT M2 will be faster over the 1/4 mile than a 350. Of course this is bench racing at its finest but I just don't agree with your statement that GT350 >>>> M2 from a pure performance standpoint.

GT350 has a ton more tire, so the M2 is going to struggle to keep up when the road isn't straight.

Also, the M2 is nearly M4 weight from all the M4 bits, making it the lower performing, but more fun little brother.

I had a full bolt on 335i m-sport that would spank my friends m3s and was just as nice inside with the M package. I like my GT much better in almost every way. Admittedly I miss people ohh and ahhhing over a modded bimmer coupe, you just don't get that with a mustang.

M4 is not faster around a racetrack than a GT350, and thus the M2 will not be faster around a track. Not sure about straight line drag/street racing.

Yeah that first statement is wrong in all accounts.

You really care about what people think about your car?

If you care about that attention you should always buy Shelby's

The M2 could be as fast as an Aston Martin DBS, still no comparison.

So the M2 puts down the same numbers, costs about the same, and is aimed at the same type of customer yet no comparison?

Obviously I prefer the GT350 which is why I'm here but I know for a fact that there are people cross shopping the two cars. So, to say there is no comparison is kind of ridiculous imo. Whether you like it or not (I'm gonna assume you and most people here don't) the GT350 and M2 are direct competitors.

I like the M2, I just don't see it as a car that could replace or compensate for not making a GT350 purchase. I think the M2 would make a great addition to a garage - especially for daily driving a sporty car. The GT350 is a very extreme, the M2 is much more understated.

Umm..
I'm sorry, but it's way slower.

it has an engine!
M2 0-60 4.2, 1/4 mile 12.7
GT350 0-60 4.3, 1/4 mile 12.5

please explain your definition of "way slower"
Trap speed is the indicator of power. ET is a traction battle. The g350 is faster period. Launching the gt350 and getting a good time is going to be difficult for most people. Some cars are easier to get down the 1/4 then others.

The gt350 no mattee the trim is an 11 second car if people could drag race for shit. Problem is, most cant.
