It's all about what you like. The Mustang has won the sales battle for the last two years. But, the Camaro won many years before that. Personal preference. It's like arguing pepperoni versus Italian Sausage.
Wait a sec, who cares about the sales! We are the consumers not manufacturers! I personally care about the reliability, performance for the value, and resale value! Owning a car which is in every corner does really not help us consumers either. The more rare it is the more the value is!

Rarity by itself doesn't make it more valuable.

Rarity (supply) + demand = value

Pintos are pretty rare now but it isn't worth a dime to most people.

That's not completely true. A AMC pacer or gremlin has no value and they are low production cars. Just because a car is low production doesn't make it valuable.

Ofcourse rarity by itself is not important, the car has to be unique, has to fulfill the customer satisfaction, has to be good at something, it should make you want it and buy it! Pinto has none of that lol! Mustang selling like hot cakes and having ton of qc problems is not helping it either. Consumer reports gave the new mustang a score of 54! Ford still haven't even adress the body panel allignment issues! There is a reason why camaro's have better resale values! Ford needs to do something asap, instead of focusing on sales and counting green benjamins!

We will see in a couple days with the Feb. 2016 monthly car sales report.
Camaro vs Mustang vs Challenger.

I got a feeling that the new 6G Camaro will be with the low production & rare cars sector. Since the 2016 model looks about 85% like the 2015 model.

the 1LE is a great track car but not a good DD...the GTPP strikes a good balance of the 2 and the take rates bare this out. Ford knows exactly what they are doing.

It doesn't matter to me how a quarter to over half a million sales a year has historically divided up, or how it will in the future. Just because one of these cars or the other may be more popular with car buyers as a whole (whether recently, overall, or projected) doesn't even register as a buying criterion of any value here.

I agree in regards to the 5G 1LE. The 6G is coming with MRC, so I'm sure it will be a better all-arounder than before. It should be very similar to the GT350 as far as comfort levels.

Fixed.

Obviously Ford knows what's best for Ford, just not for the entire range of buyers who want a bigger slice of what the PP is intended to deliver over the base GT.

It's frustrating being a 1-percenter buyer when the 1LE was 2%-intended and the GTPP is more like a 25%-er's car, when the $ step up to 1% (GT350, Z/28) is unreasonably large.

Alpha is the greatest chassis ever devised by man and blessed by God himself... Its a shame nobody wants to own the cars built on it...God truly is dead.

One thing I dislike about the gt350 is the lack of low end torque. The 6g Camaro has tons of it down low.

$1500, plus labor, plus alignment, plus potential warranty hassles if the dealership didn't install it. All of this to equal the handling of a completely stock Camaro SS, which is supposedly the direct competition. Nothing says they were thinking of the 1% like that!

The GTPP was a letdown. I know what their thought process was, but it should've been able to compete with the 1LE. They have the base, premium, and California Special models that should handle the needs of the 99% more than satisfactorily.

As far as sales numbers, let's give the Camaro production time to get in full swing before we cast stones. I think it's going to be pretty close to the Mustang. I think the Mustang will probably outsell the Camaro still because the styling is fresher, but I think it will be close.
