That can't be true, because the Viper has been discontinued and the Motor Trend advertising department won't be able to sell Chrysler fold-out covers and ad spreads in every issue for the next year.
You can still buy or order a new MY2017 Viper, even an ACR build... I know I was offered an allocation. It'll go away but not until next year.

Should the ACR be eligible? Its not new or substantially different than years before.

I understand that, and I know that almost all of the final versions of the Viper are already sold out, whether to dealers or end customers. My point was in reference to the fact that a lot of people think car magazines' test results are dependent on advertising dollars, which is not true - and that Chrysler will no longer be advertising the Viper because the car has been discontinued and only will be available "while supplies last." If it really worked that way, MT could make a lot more money from a manufacturer whose car was going to be available until the next BDC.

Uh! Yes it's eligible and it is substantially different.

At the end of the day, they can bring in/bring back any car they want... actually the more the better!

I couldn't even read the whole thread LOL

My perspective

I am a Team Shelby Director and also a director for the Mustang Club of America. So, yea, I am biased. When I consider these tests, I keep that in mind.

Ill make fun of Camaros all day long, its a part of the rivalry, but its just that "fun" I respect people have other choices and just because they are wrong (kidding here), does not mean I don't respect their opinion. Chevrolet does some great things and, they push Ford to do the same. The reverse is also true.

Motor Trend is a joke and, you don't have to be brand loyal to see that. I call them General Motors Trend. As someone has already pointed out, there choice of the Colorado was the kicker. That and, as I watch Randy run the Mustang TP car against the last Camaro, one nice and smooth, the other doing a imitation of Vaugh Gittin, It doesn't take a genius to see that they have an agenda. In some way or another, the 1LE is going to win, even if it really doesn't,

That takes nothing away from the efforts GM is putting in to make a great car for their customers. I am just not one of them

Problem is, that it was eligible during the 2015 contest, and Dodge declined to supply one.
And the GT350R was not supplied by ford for last years MT's DC.

it has an engine!
I almost ordered a viper instead of my mustang, i could have had it the way i wanted for 80k otd. I just couldnt justify how much it'd cost in mods for what i want power wise. Id have been into 135k roughly including the car.

It was held before the GT350 was sold to the public. Don't forget the "2015" GT350 is a 2016 that was mostly assembled before the change over, but completed after many 2016 were already shipped to dealers.

Randy Pobst is a great and thoughtful driver and an honest guy. If he didn't run a car smoothly at 10/10ths, it's because he couldn't run the car smoothly - or maybe he was running at 11/10ths, just to see how the car would react.

70k out the door sounds like BS. Are you talking about a 2013 model with mileage on it?
Also, 640hp isnt enough? How much is your GT350 putting down?
:paddle:

I can't believe people are crying about the Viper being in the competition. Honestly the GT350R punches above its weight, but the ACR isnt the only thing that is faster on the track. The comparison has the baby mclaren and a new GTR. I would be excited to see the GT350R get 4th place (in terms of lap times). That means it beats Jag F Type R, Benz GTS, Audi R10, and M4 GTS. Excited to see the results, about time they took the GT350R to laguna seca for a lap time

the 16GT350 was already on the streets when last years MT DC was held. Guess that's why they did not have it as it officially was a 16 MY.
