Th other car I have been considering is the C7 vette. I was waiting for the GT350 reveal before making a choice, and now that I know enough of the details, my preference is for the GT350.

Here is why:
1. Rear seats. I have two kids, so having rear seats will let me take the kids in the Mustang, allowing me to drive it more often.

2. Marginally less expensive. After configuring my C7, it comes out to about $73,000. I think the GT350 will be $10,000 less with some good options.

3. High revving, low-inertia engine. I drove the C7 for three days at the Ron Fellows Driving School. It was an awesome experience, and really highlighted what a great car the C7 is. The only thing I didn't love about the car was the engine. It was a little slow to rev during heel-toe shifts, and it fell off a little approaching redline. It is a great engine overall, but felt a little lazy. Due to those characteristics. OTOH, flooring the car @ 4000 RPM in third gear was an eye opening experience. Still, I prefer the more free revving nature of the Coyote, which is improved even further with the Voodoo

4. Track ready brakes and cooling. My impression from following the corvette forums closely is that the C7 Z51 is excellent on the track, but is prone to overheating and brake wear. I think the GT350 brakes and cooling will better handle the extremes of tracking.

I love the C7, but was expecting to spend another $4000 in front brakes to give me the confidence I'd want. The GT350 gives me everything I am looking for. Maybe it won't be quite as sporty feeling, or maybe it won't be quite as fast, but it has all the features I want. Unless the reviews are really bad, I am certain this will be my next car.

Of course, over the last few years I've said that about the Porsche Cayman, then the C7, and now the GT350.

This is definitely an interesting question with the price points being about the same.

The GT350R is dead square in the C7 price range. IMO, no Camaro is competitive with these 2.

I'm predicting the GT350R will be faster than a Z51 C7 at a track like Nurburgring or VIR ( C&D Lightning Lap), but I think it might be a touch slower in a straight line due to the C7's low weight.

Also, the C7 can be had as a convertible if that matters. It does for me and so I'm hoping Ford will reveal the next GT500 before long so I can choose between the 3 (assuming I ever get the money). That could be a tough but wonderful choice to have to make.

If no over heating issues then zo6 is faster than the gt350R all day with similar price range considering gt350R Adm!

Lightly modded lt1 with more torque and 3400 lbs will be faster than a gt350 with track pack 3700+ lbs!

Back seat factor goes to gt350!

Looks, gt350 is the best looking mustang ever but corvette is still the winner in exterior and interior!

If you can get a base gt350 below msrp then no competition gt350 all day!

there is no way a new z06 could be on a track all day.it would over heat, like any other supercharger car.to me the new vette looks like shit, and the motor is junk.:ford:

I'm going to have to hunt down a GT350 and test this out because I don't see an MT GT350 keeping up with our A8 Z51. And without ADM it's not really the same price range. The Vette was a tad under $83k MSRP and that's what we paid for it. If anyone in my area has one hit me up and well hit the track.

Forget the C7 a Camaro 16 SS will clean up on a 350 nonR ...because of the tri Y headers. It puts out more power then a C7. Same A8 and mag ride and more power. Head2head not far off for acceleration numbers.
1/4 mile times its faster then 1LE and right up there with the ZL1. The gearing is killing the 350 1/4 mile times. Because of the low end lack of torque. As a street car the 350 is a little boring. From what I've read it feels no faster then a mustang GT around town. Keep the revs about 4000 and it's great until it vibration starts to build.
The C7 won every acceleration category except fun to drive WTF is that.
They said " not as quick as the Z51, sell it before it vibrates itself to pieces "
The Corvette forum is having a field day with this article and for good reason.
