GT350 price range?

This is slightly off topic, but one thing I wonder about is - if the car is a GT350 that succeeds the Boss302 in terms of function, does that mean the convertible model goes away? There was no production convertible GT350 in '65 or '66 because the car was essentially a dedicated track car. Same is true for the Boss. Of course, there has almost always been a convertible version of the SVT Cobra...

This is exactly why we bought a GT500 vert instead of the BOSS. I really wanted the 12 BOSS but it didn't come as a vert.

I don't need a fpc, I just think it would be awesome!

Honestly even if it's just a regular v8 with over 550hp I would be very pleased.

All I really wanted was a basic GT convertible with PP. On S197, I could at least order that with the Brembo package and add the Torsen diff, and be most of the way there. But if there's no offering like that on S550, then a Shelby 'vert - if not priced as high as the GT500 - might be a possibility. That's based on a lot of assumptions, but that's why I'm in favor of the lower HP, lower price theory for GT350...

I can tie this back to the price topic this way: if there's no convertible, then the price range narrows a bit. There'll be the coupe, plus the pricey option packs for track hardware, Recaros, etc. But that'd be it, unless they choose to throw another Leguna Seca type model at us as well.

Very few companies have verts in that (GT500) performance range... in this price range.

Don't even know why the GT500 is even brought up, that is easily 2 years out. We are talking about the GT350..

Nice thought but the going theme is the GT 350 is a track oriented car.
Verts typically add weight.

Vert does not equal track car

My guess on price is 55k. Split the difference among current expectations between the BOSS and GT500. Leaves room above and below.

It will be way higher. The gt starts at 34k? No way the GT350 starts below 54k. It's the next svt with better performance than the 14 GT500.

The C7 base starts at around 52K. If the GT350 starts at 54K, it will better have at least the same performance as the C7. I am not sure most people will spend the same money for less performance. Also the GT350 will probably have the rear seats removed so the 2+2 advantage won't be there.

Yes, it may have better performance than the '14 GT500 but keep in mind the 2015 GT will have better performance than the 12/13 boss but it's price tag isn't higher than what the boss was.

I'm not saying it'll be 42, and I don't have any inside information. All I have is hope and speculation. I'll go the same route as the 8k above comment but say 8k above the gt premium with pp so that it'll start around 48-50. That's what I hope anyway, otherwise I can't get one!

I have a hard time believing that Ford will be able to justify a high price tag on a GT350 if they have backed off on power, torque, top speed, and eliminated a supercharger - even if the car is better handling and quicker in the 1/4. All of those things are too important in terms of selling points and bragging rights and will make for a tough sell to well-heeled buyers that care about that sort of thing.

Except when it comes to track times. Handling feel, roll center, skidpad, braking, acceleration numbers, etc. Just as the z28 was created to outperform the zl1.

Its not the GT500 replacement and it exactly slots between the Boss and the GT500. Pricewise hopefully much closer to the Boss.

Once you start getting into the $50's you gots to consider a C7. Sht I'm considering it anyway. GT350 I think has its work cut out for it against the Vette.

The new SVT product will likely be a GT500 replacement only insomuch as it is the next SVT product to come out and supersedes the GT500 in the line up. It is, however, a completely different car with different specs built for a different mission. It is not a successor to the GT500, it only happens to come next. Just like how Raptor doesn't succeed the Lightning, even though it was the next truck SVT produced. Given the different mission, I would expect everything it does on the track to be better than the GT500. But it still isn't meant to fill the same niche.

You say it supersedes the GT500 as the next SVT and state you would be confused if ford tried to command a higher price than a car that has more power, etc. just want to see your opinion in price. I'm thinkin high 40s to 50 as a base...

Exactly there is no gt500 as it is replaced in 16 with the GT350. There will be the mustang gt, a team mustang project (Mach 1/Boss), and the SVT Mustang the GT350.

I think it will be like this:

2015:
Mustang V6
Mustang I4-Turbo
Mustasng GT

2016:
Add GT350 (similar intent as 2013 Boss302)

2017:
Add GT500

I think GT350 will be priced as follows:
$45,000 to start
$55,000 with most options

It will include the rear seats.

This is my hope, because this if I can get a well equipped GT350 with ~460 HP, great brakes and great seats, for $50,000 to $55,000 I will be very happy.

My hope is that its mid 40's as a starting place, but that's because I'm hoping its priced within my reach next year. I have no idea what SVT will want to do in terms of price, but it will probably be higher than I'd like. For all we know, they're still trying to sort out the engineering details...
