Everything I read about the double helix pipe makes me want one. I actually like the popping and raspyness. I've been going back and forth between Borla atak catback, Corsa catback, and Corsa double X for about a month.
I highly recommend just having your shop do a custom 3” double helix. Just show them what the corsa looks like and it will save you hundreds (to spend on other mods hahaha)

Like I said, I do like the sound quite a bit with the exception from 3500-4000 where it gets very raspy.

Out of curiosity why do you say this? Would you not even go FP by Borla or the Borla ATAK for some modest gains in HP/TQ and still keep your warranty?

I agree about Magnaflow. I like them enough as a company, but I've heard over a couple of different platforms that they tend to drone a decent amount. They are cheaper for a reason, maybe this is unfair as I've never had one to get a real life view of their products.
Well if he's looking for a deep tone, all the other aftermarket options seem to make the exhaust definitely shout and scream more. I'm thinking the OP is referring to a bellow-like bass tone. That's just not the 350 and you can't really alter the fundamental tones of an engine, only attenuate certain parts. It's like trying to get a V6 to sound like a V8. No matter what you do or how you try, that V6 is always going to have that zippy nasally racket associated with it. Sometimes it can be made to sound good (Alfa Romeo) but you still can hear its baseline characteristics. No matter what you do, that Voodoo will always sound like the Voodoo and it's just not a bassy low tone.

Exactly. He should have bought a 5.0 if that is the sound he's after.

Because that’s the only difference between the 2 cars? ;)

Never said I hated the sound, I love the stock exhaust, but think most of the after market are too raspy. But no one should buy a 5.0 when they can have this car lol.

Gotcha, that makes sense.

This is my first V8 sports car so I don’t really get the rasp argument about the GT350, especially after coming over from M3/4s. It’s all about perception. I will say I test drove a used 5.0 GT with I think it was a Roush exhaust and that was one of the best sounding I’ve driven.

Throatiness, raspy, deep tone, high tone, low tone, tinny, canny, hollow...the adjectives are a'plenty especially with so many options for the 5.0. The Voodoo just seems to sound like the Voodoo no matter what. That's also probably good sound engineering though too from the aftermarket.

I had several exhaust systems on my '11 car, stock catback, Maggy Comp catback, SW Retrochamber catback, Kooks catback, Borla ATAK catback. Some when I had headers, others when I didn't. I can tell you the Maggy Comp system was by far the lowest tone. It was a deep bass drum like thrum to it. And it droned like a cow being molested by a power drill. The "raspiest" (rasp is what most people hear as uncontrolled tones and sound wave turbulence, that crackly harshness or a zipiness almost) setup was the stock catback with headers. It sounded like a marble inside of a can being thrown around. I really liked the Borla ATAK catback with headers but it was I.N.S.A.N.E.L.Y. loud. I'll never go back to that volume again. the SW RetroChambered catback was really cool. Very throaty at idle and howled when you spin it up. The Kooks catback...eh. I feel like it was better with short tube headers. It was the highest pitched of all the systems and it almost sounded ricer like

Me too. The only think I'd think about is a set of short tube 4 into 1 headers and they better be as close to equal length as possible. Not happening though. No manufacturer would be stupid enough to think that would be a good R&D investment.

I added the Corsa double helix...the tone is certainly different but I really like it.

SERIOUSLY!!!! I don want want to go through the pain of the removal/install sinec I have the ATAK. The stock sound is off the chain, in sport mode. Porbably why I still use the Borla. In normal mode it does not sound normal but more like sport, not as loud. And then sport with the ATAK......Holy F!@#king S!@t balls Batman!

While the GT350 engine does have an inherent rasp to it that you can never change 100%, our catback does a good job of creating a deeper tone. It also includes new valves to retain the factory active exhaust function. If possible, we would recommend linking up with someone that has one at a local show or meet to hear it in person for yourself. Opinions on sound are very subjective and videos never completely capture the true sound.

If there are any questions that we can answer about our Competition system, feel free to shoot us a call or PM!

Couldn't agree more. Unless someone can 100% tell me the stock exhaust is hampering power significantly, its really hard to want to change it given the cost of most aftermarket systems.:headbang:
