As the BULLITT and GT350 share the same intake I was wondering if anyone has actually seen any gains with an aftermarket CAI. The stock looks pretty well optimized as it is. Perhaps the only gains could be from either wider tubing to match the TB(if it doesn't already) or removing the ribbed section that may cause a bit of air turbulence? The only thing I can find about actual dyno tests were where someone had a tune on their GT350, then put on the JLT and then re-tuned it and gained about 20 wheel. Not sure how much of that was just tune and how much was intake though.

I'm also wondering if anyone looked into how to possibly open the front up a bit to let in more air than just that tiny vent to the right of the grill. It seems pretty small, not sure if letting more in will help intake temps any though.

CAI alone is known to offer negligible gains on the GT350 and is typically done just if someone wants the look of one. Those gains you mention are likely all from the tune.

People have tried drilling some holes in the front for the intake, but Ford performance did a significant amount of research on the front end grill design so I'm not about to take to it with a drill. Remember the R intentionally had a smaller grill inlet vs the 2016-2018 GT350's specifically for aero. More grill opening isn't always better.

Cold Air by itself wont do anything without a tune like demonic said, but if I remember correctly there was a dyno sheet of someone who had their throttle body ported and it had increases over the entire rpm range.

Thanks, I'll look for that thread. Not sure how much that will help over the GT350 TB on the 5.0 though. Could still be an interesting thing to test.

For the 5.0 huge gains are seen with a ported stock intake and throttle body even vs the gt350 one a company I believe tested this as well you could look up

I like to disassemble things.

Make sure you take a close look at the air tunnel to the CAI filter that it is seated properly where the hard plastic meets the flexible rubber boot. Ours was not seated during assembly line & it did remove some area for air flow. HTH

Don’t do it.
I dyno tested a JLT 3.5 years ago. Absolutely no gain at all. Don’t fall for the snake oil unless you’re doing it strictly for looks.
