I'm just very disappointed in the current gen M3/4. I don't think they improved anywhere over the previous gen. Yeah, it's got more torque, but the turbo is an overall negative for me. I'd go for the previous V8 any day.

The looks are so "meh...", colors are terrible, the options aren't impressive - you gotta get the exec pack (imo), you have to pay a ridiculous $500 for bluetooth integration that every other car has these days, and I just don't see any area where the M4 stands out over it's competition.

Then...there's the M4's performance at VIR in the 2014 Car & Driver Lightning Lap. Embarrassing!:thumbdown:
Beat by the E63 and SL63 Mercedes. At the same event! Those are not even sports cars! :eyebulge:

Plus the base Corvette was way faster (7 seconds).
Yes, 2 thumbs down for the M4.

M2?

I've been watching the M2 development closely. I was hoping a big aero kit to make it look better than the M235, but looks like what's coming won't be enough lipstick.

And they've crippled it so it won't out-perform the M4. From what is known so far I don't see the M2 comparing well to a GT350, GT350 wins hands down. :ford:

Quoting numbers is all well and good...but have you ever driven one? Experience can make or break your opinion quickly.

Definition - fanboy?

I'm a fan of all performance cars worthy of praise after they've been tested. I'm sure my enthusiasm for the GT350 matches yours, but the GT350 isn't god's automotive gift to man...nothing at that price range is.

Never driven one. Don't have to. One selling point I didn't mention - fake engine sounds played in on the radio. No thank you.:thumbdown:

Yeah, you're mistaken here, too - because I'm probably going to buy a Corvette next Spring when the time comes. No need to fight over ADM and concern about choosing this option package or that one.

As I've posted above, the Corvette lets you choose whatever you want, convertible, automatic, whatever. I'd like to have the GT350 with both tech and track pack. I'm a long time Ford fan and bought my 1st Mustang over 20 years ago - but Fords got to free up the options. I currently drive a Mercedes, and for my next car, next year, I am considering:

GT350
BMW M2 / M4
Corvette
ATS-V
C63 AMG

So I'm no fanboy, especially of BMW. Anything below 70-75k I'm considering, which for me rules out Porsche and Jaguar unfortunately as they are above 75k the way I would option them out. No need to do without the things you want, like heated seats.

Currently I'm still mulling the GT350 with tech pack only or the Corvette, but we'll see. Can't wait to see these 350s hit the road so we can have something more positive to talk about than ADM. Sick of that thread - it's everywhere. :(

Did you know the Mustangs do it too? It is not fake engine sounds. It is noise cancelling technology to keep certain harmonics out of the interior.

Why so bitter. Did an M3/M4 bite you in the ass recently?

So much hatred for the M3/M4...for me personally I'd just add a GT350 along side the M4, but wouldn't consider the 1M or an M2 since they're both hideously ugly.

Hatred?

People buy an M3/M4 for the back seat. The M2 will be a track focused car, just like the GT350. The M2 will also out handle the M3/M4. The only thing the M2 will not do better is 0~62+ to protect the egos of the M3 and M4 drivers.

Ironically, my 135is will out handle a M3 and beat it 0~60. The 135is is quicker than a 1M. You will never see these things in a mag with BMW's blessing, because a tuned 1M is much more of a car, than a stock M3. (The 1M was a suspension package, if you will.)

A BMW tuned 135is was limited and only 500 in the country, for a reason. To protect the egos of people spending $20k more, for more lux and protected performance.

M2 is where BMW is at. Nobody cares about the M4.

The M2 will start at roughly $50k, have about the same amount of TQ as the GT350 and be smaller and lighter. They are direct competitors, using different philosophies and technology.

Both are meant to be pounded on the track... and I will own one, or the other.

I feel the same way. Loved the previous generation, which I feel was very well balanced in terms of handling and power.

Seems like the new one has too much power for the chassis, not to mention an annoying exhaust note and annoying options packages. I do still like the M3, and it looks really good in person, but not a fan of the turbos or of the car overall any more.

C7 is where I'd be spending the money if I couldn't get the pricing I want on the GT350.

Lol. "To protect the egos of people spending $20k or more..." Lol.

I'm happy your'e so proud of your tuned 135is. You seem so overprotective of it. I find it downright one of the ugliest cars on the road esthetically...it looks like a pot bellied pig - the lower side sill does this. So congrats on owning a quick, fat bellied pig.

And like all fanboys of their own car, it makes no sense saying a modded car is much faster/better/outhandles a stock car. Uhhh, it should, if you modded it correctly.

My M4 is modded as well and would wipe the floor with your litlle 135is (and yes its more kosher to compare one modded car to another modded car). What are you tuned with? BMS stage 1, JB4 (what setting?), ESS E-Tronic (what setting), Active Autowerke 8, Dinan, ESS flash, Ginatani flash, Enzo flash? Suspension...H&R, Eibach, KW HAS, Dinan HAS, KW COs, Bilstein CO's, Ohlins CO's?

I'm sure BMW wasn't trying to protect my ego when I purchased my M4 because its price point is higher then a 1M/135i/M2. I could care less anyway because the price point didn't bother me...I buy and bought what I want. If I wanted an M5 or an M6 or an M3 or C7Z06 or a P-Car or whatever, I would have.
