As much as the manual transmission fans, myself included, may not want to admit it, we may as well get used to stock automatic cars being significantly quicker in drag racing. You'd have to compare the manual transmission Camaro to the Shelby. Even then, the LT1 is going to have its advantages in the quarter mile just because of its torque off the line. Guys who want to rag on the Shelby for not being a drag queen obviously don't get it, and if you own a GT350, you may just have to get used to dealing with that.

In my opinion though, the Boss 302 ran consistent 12.3s in the rag tests, so I doubt that the GT350 will have trouble beating that.

I am not sure of the time but I feel very confident we will see 120-122mph in the speed area.

For some reason the R is short shifting 2nd/3rd and 3rd/4th..by a lot.
The R's rear tire is also almost a full inch smaller in diameter. All else being the same it's going to reach its shift points faster

This car is built for road courses, not drag racing.:)
Anything in the 12s with a good driver is going to be a failure. If the A8 Camaro SS really does run a 12.3 and could potentially beat the GT350 in the 1/4 we won't hear the end of it from the Chevy boys. I know the GT350 isn't primarily a 1/4 mile car, but Ford has put effort into it's drag performance given it actually has a drag strip mode.
Failure? I took a car to the drag strip once and got bored with it by the end of the night just because it's not my style of racing. And, I couldn't care less about what the "Chevy boys" or Audi guys think about a car that I buy to run on a road course or to carve canyons for my own personal satisfaction.

Like most others, I'm anxious to see skid pad and figure 8 test results, and some real lap times from known drivers. 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are interesting and fun, but not my personal prime motivation for purchasing this car or definition of whether it's a failure.

I'm with the others and hoping that this is an 11 second car. The mags really need to test this car at 11.9 or lower. Somebody said the truth that the Chevy boys will never let up on this if it is a 12 second car and the ss runs 12.3 regularly. And despite the great on track performance it would be sort of a let down if it could not surpass the old boss 302 in the 1/4, which is down on 80 horsepower and torque.

Finally got home to actually watch the videos and these are far from official 1/4 mile trials, what are they using to time these runs? Dynolicious?

As most on here, I'm looking forward to true sub 12 second time trials

I don't see how this car won't be a high 11 seconds right out of the box. It weighs the same as the Boss almost to the pound, makes more jam and has a better tire.

Can you imagine how much the WRX guys are going to talk when they see how badly the GT350 drives in the snow?

Oh, dear! The look on the Mercedes S-class guys' faces when they find out that our cars aren't as quiet and comfortable as theirs.

The Prius people are going to give us a hard time about the gas mileage.

All of these are almost equally valid arguments. This car wasn't built for the quarter mile. The ZL1 is faster than the Z28 in the quarter mile, but the Z28 is the Camaro owners' yardstick. Quarter mile is for the Hellcat, and Chevy and Ford aren't going that direction right now.
