There are people that can afford a mustang GT and others that can afford a GT350. I wish I could afford a Ford GT, but I can't. If I could supercharge the mustang GT and keep the factory warranty I would consider that over a GT350, which apparently will be an option in the near future .:thumbsup:
A loaded GT costs within $5k of a GT350, so it's not a matter of who can afford it and who can't.

And there is that option, and has been since 2015. Look into LPF

Most people wouldn't know, nor could care less. If anything, most people probably look at a Focus RS and think "What is the cartoon on wheels?"
Yes, and that's exactly my point. A Focus RS is just a focus with significant visual and performance changes, same as a Shelby is just a Mustang with significant visual and performance changes, Yet most people will view the near-$50k MSRP Focus RS as "just a Focus" because they don't see or understand the 350hp AWD powertrain sitting beneath it, just as they will see a $60k+ GT350 as "just a Mustang" because they don't see the 5.2L FPC V8 sitting beneath it

I agree that bragging rights is a poor reason to buy a GT350 or any other car and I think the pro-GT guys are correct that for most people the GT350 is just another Mustang. Heck, for me it's also just another Mustang. A great Mustang like all Mustangs are. I like that about the GT350. It's not exactly low profile, but it fits into the "Mustang" category - which makes it much lower profile than a 996 or 997 911 GT3 or other cars that have similar track performance.

Mustangs are terrific cars. Whenever I see a Mustang on the road it makes me happy. I think that around here - most people see any Mustang at all and think it's cool and the owner might be a little crazy or frivolous. I am exactly that - crazy and frivolous with my car expenditures.

couldn't agree more. I just love ALL mustangs. I even think the ecoboost is an excellent car... like, if you're looking to go fast, you should probably get a GT or Shelby, but if you're just in the market for something like an FRS or 370Z, an ecoboost is an excellent alternative!

I love the idea of the brz/frs/86/sciontcwithaboxer, but I cant see myself ever buying a car with less torque than my 2.5l na mazda6

I had a Focus ST. I can't talk really lol. But let's be real, it is kinda funny looking to most Americans at least. When my friends and family first saw my Focus ST they were like

Then got a ride in it and were like "Oh..."

Unfortunately I only had the car for just over a year. It's a fun car but just wasn't my thing and was a winter driver/occasional DD (is that even a term?) and just didn't make sense.

it was a decent idea with awful execution. When the Miata was discontinued, there wasn't much to fill that niche. That's when the 86 came in and filled that void. But if you look at the sales numbers, the second the Miata came back and the ecoboost mustang came out, 86 sales plummeted and continued to stay low. It's because the 86 wasn't built for a specific market... it's small and underpowered like a miata, but has 4 seats, a hardtop, and a relatively simple suspension and chassis design like the Mustang and Camaro, so it really has to try and compete in both markets while getting outperformed by any of it's competitors.

I wanted to like them, but when the S550 came out, I drove an Ecoboost and got out of it to drive an FRS for the first time. After driving that ecoboost, the FRS just felt awful... cheap interior, no amenities, underpowered, cramped, no grip, terrible balance, etc. and for the price of an 86 with a few options, you could get an Ecoboost premium or Camaro LT 1LE and have a MUCH better all around car

But anyways, I'm getting off topic lol

Agreed, all points. Also, I legit had to look at the thread title to remember what the topic was originally.

Within 5 grand?? I hope you didnt pay 55 grand for a mustang GT! Even with PP2 you shouldn't be paying over 45.

I can tell you're not well versed...

yes, a loaded GT can touch $55k. A GT350 starts out right around $60k. So yes, a GT is within $5k of a GT350. They aren't some unobtainable luxury item

You have to try pretty hard to get a GT up to $55K. Yes, if you add EVERYTHING you can get there, but if we just go with a 401A, PP, Magnaride, Active Exhaust it's more like $49.5, which is a fair comparison. Yea, if you add Recaros, B&O, safe and secure, black roof, enhanced security, automatic you can bump that up by another $5K. And you are going to have a much easier time getting a discount on the GT. Yea, 350s are readily available at MSRP, and you can maybe negotiate slightly under, but not much. Assuming you are not buying right at the start of the model year, you can get a 5K discount on a 49K GT without even trying very hard.

If you end up paying that much for a GT you have extremely poor negotiating techniques

Funny, I had a pretty heavily modded 2014 ST. Although I drove it rarely; when I did people of all ages were all over it. Definitely no funnier looking to most than a Juke or a Prius. hahaha!
