When I was a teenager, I had a mild obsession with the GT-R. A friend of mine told me that he'd rather have a Porche/Ferrari/Lamborghini. I asked why he could possibly want a vehicle that cost more, but performed less. His response was that the Euro cars are chick-magnets, and the GT-R was a dick-magnet.

Non-car people don't know what the hell a GT350 is. Some might even prefer the car with the horses on it. The only people who would notice a Shelby over a GT...well, see above. My GT gets plenty of stares, thank you very much.
Hate to ruin your story, but the first person who said anything about my 350 was a mid-20s girl who said "Nice Shelby" and asked to take a picture with it.

A 2015-2018 GT350 is pretty basic compared to what you can get in a GT as far as creature comforts go. Yes you can get tech pack or electronics pack, convenience pack to make daily driving more comfortable but end of the day a GT is a
Okay? They still have no idea what it is, so guess my $500 beater is as special as a Shelby fellas!

The reason I point this out is to show that ANYTHING can be "special", and that "special" is absolutely NOT synonymous with "good". I don't care what other people think about my car, I care about whether or not I enjoy it. Some people crave attention, and that's okay, but that's not me

So basically, the whole "buy it because it's special" argument is BS. If he wanted "special", he could also spend $15k on an ecoboost with -30* of camber and a rivet-on widebody. That doesn't make a car better

I think you do care what people think otherwise you would not keep trying to make your point. They are both nice cars, but end of day a Shelby is looked at in a different way than a GT. Right or wrong it is what it is.

"I think you care what people think about your car because you don't care what people think about your car"

Most ass-backwards logic I've ever heard in my life. But hey, that's the Shelby owner attitude for ya

Not sure what that means but that's not what I said. I am not trying to argue with you. I agree to disagree. Please don't label me with your opinion of what a Shelby owner is. Cheers

I would disagree with that. My wife is decidedly not a car person, but she knows the 350 looks "different", because it does. Does it look like a totally different car? I don't think so, but the difference between a 350 and a straight GT is greater than the difference between a 15-17 and an 18-19 refresh.

If you didn't own a Mustang and she saw a GT350 in a parking lot with no other Mustangs around, she probably wouldn't know the difference

Next time you see a Focus RS, ask her what it is

She would probably say it was a CIVIC, maybe a WRX.

By who? Other Shelby owners or guys who bought 1LEs?

And yes, they are both nice cars. I feel most people that look at a Shelby "in a different way" are people who don't own Mustangs or are current Shelby owners. Do you truly think the folks on here that bought a base Mustang and threw 40k in to twin turbos, suspension and body mods look at a Shelby differently? I highly doubt it. I'm sure if you parked a Shelby and a GT that was tricked next to each other, the majority the public wouldn't know the difference and both would attract people. Many on here could buy whatever they want, yet many bought a base GT and decided to trick it out themselves because the word Mustang or Shelby on the title didn't matter to them.

Exactly. The only people who look at Shelbys differently are Shelby owners. I seriously doubt that $250.00 a month in car payment really swayed many sports car buyers, specifically Mustang buyers in a different way. I have seen some of the shit holes people live in on here in the background of their car photos; meaning I gather they will give up a lot to have a nice car. I personally would shoot myself having some shit garage or no garage making payments on a GT350 or a hot rodded out GT. But I have seen it on here many times. People renting an apartment and making a 1200.00 GT350 payment; now those guys/gals look at a Shelby "differently".

Again, I have no horse in this race because I love both cars... a lot! I appreciate when someone buys a stock base 35k GT and does it up the way they want or the guy who buys a Shelby and leaves it stock. I could have bought either a 350 or my PP2. If I owned a Shelby would I look at a GT differently; no because I love both. I paid cash for my car and the 20k I saved on my PP2 left me a lot of dough for upgrades. Might even buy a new car trailer so I can really make my new car completely useless on the street :D

There are people that can afford a mustang GT and others that can afford a GT350. I wish I could afford a Ford GT, but I can't. If I could supercharge the mustang GT and keep the factory warranty I would consider that over a GT350, which apparently will be an option in the near future .:thumbsup:

Most people wouldn't know, nor could care less. If anything, most people probably look at a Focus RS and think "What is the cartoon on wheels?"
