So I know that with Camaro's dealers have an allocation for individual packages like 1LE, Hot Wheels, ZL1, etc.

Do Mustangs work similarly? E.g. allocation for GT, GT PP1, GT PP2, etc.

As I understand it Ford has dealer allocations. I order from a dealer that had no allocation at the time. This made me, the customer, the guy that is paying the bill wait for over 4.5 months ( so far). This is BS. I think while I waited big dealers were getting stock orders that weren't even sold. I am not sure about all of this. All I know is I will never order a car from Ford ever again. :frusty:

Sorry to hear. But not really Ford's fault. Cars are allocated to dealers with lots of criteria involved (3000 dealers and this ain't Amazon). Dealers that have cars just sitting on their lot for months on end are not given new ones until old metal is moved.... Ford also has fleet CAFE averages to meet thus GTs are allocated in a very general sense to the extent that Ford expects to sell X many GTs in relation to Y many Eco Boosts etc. In that regard if a dealer decided to become the Mustang GT Center of the country and only sell GTs Ford would say 'hell no' and limit their GTs until they ordered up and sold some EcoBoosts and other higher mileage vehicles.

You didn't order a car from Ford. The dealer did. A lot of folks confuse that. Ford only takes orders from and sells to dealers. The key is finding an honest dealer that is upfront on their allocation status with Ford.

Remember--dealers LIE. Both to the public and to Ford. Dealers have been known to lie about 'a sold order' when attempting to build up stock-claiming the buyer backed out once the car arrived. In most states deposits are full refundable as a matter of law (again expect a dealer to lie about this) thus a sold order is not really sold....until a buyer takes it off the lot.

On the flip side this forum at times is full of posts by individuals who custom ordered only to back out for "various" reasons (a lot of them total BS) including making multiple orders and taking the first one that arrived. One poster recently bragged about leaving a dealer high and dry on an unusual color/interior combination that the dealer is now stuck with. So a "sold order" really doesn't get you that far ahead of the game.

The 'fast' key is getting a large dealer that turns and burns lots of inventory to take your order.
