Lol that's awesome , I wish my line looked that clear. Mine is all smeared. Are you using high-performance paper towels or something?:)

Lol that's actually a funny video, and I guess I can see why he says it's so easy. Unfortunately when I pull it out like he does, it's smeared just like EF300 stated. I've checked oil on plenty of cars, many of times. It smears so much that even after an oil change it still looks empty, but runs fine for thousands of miles.

Are you pulling the dipstick straight up and out? As in not bending it?

Essentially where the black k brace and strut bar meet is where the dipstick should be coming out.

You can also try spinning the dipstick on the other side and trying again

Yeah I'm trying not to bend it at least. Probably just wasn't careful enough the first few times. I appreciate it.

So, what side is the correct side to measure the oil level?

If I insert the dipstick with the crosshatched markings facing towards the front of the car, I get a lower reading (See picture #1; about 4 columns of crosshatched markings are covered in oil).
If I insert the dipstick with the crosshatched markings facing towards the rear of the car, I get a higher reading (See picture #2; about 6 columns of crosshatched markings are covered in oil).

The reading is always about two crosshatched markings lower/higher depending on which way it's inserted. Maybe I should just average it out and say the oil level is at 5 crosshatched markings.

Honestly i would just split the difference between them and take that as your level. That dipstick is a pita for a reliable reading.

I did some math since I have plenty of free time waiting for my build.
The average oil check withdraws 5 drops of oil.
How many oil checks would it take to remove 1 quart of oil?
There is 32 oz. in a qt., and there are 590 drops in an oz., therefore, it would take 3775 oil checks to drain just 1 quart.

^ Cool!

I think/work in metric, and the numbers are damn close... If an average drop is 50uL, and there are 5 drops per oil check, it would take 4000 oil checks to remove a liter of oil. :)
