Eventually the discussion will morph into one about post-menopausal feminine hygiene issues in the modern era or air traffic controllers that suffer from narcolepsy and low self-esteem due to gender identity disparagement.
I tried checking mine and I could barely see where the oil was because it was scraped off. I know it sounds silly, but as important as it is to make sure your oil levels are in good shape, it's quite an annoying process. Maybe you guys don't have driver side catch cans or something. I mean come on, look at this. The damn stick is literally located right under the strut tower brace.I literally just checked my dipstick, and the only thing on it was oil!
I have the same catch can, I can read the oil with zero issues.I tried checking mine and I could barely see where the oil was because it was scraped off. What's the trick? Because the dip stick slides and wipes oil off. So how do you do it so easily?I have the same catch can, I can read the oil with zero issues.
Yes but how does oil not scrape off the dip stick? It doesn't just come straight up. What am I missing? Legitimately curious.I pull it out from the back side of the strut tower bar (closer to firewall). Never even tried going the other way. I also have the FP oil catch can.
Agreed. I don't think the OP is asking "How do I check my oil?" I think the point here is that it's just a little more inconvenient than checking it in some other cars. For me in previous cars, it was located in an area where I could just grab the handle and pull the oil stick straight out, wipe, clean, etc. Even someone else mentioned their "process" (ty btw) that involves two hands to "carefully" remove the oil stick. I guess if Ford moved it to an even more inconvenient location that required using extension tools and flash lights, we'd still be crazy lol.I get that some of you guys think this is funny however, I would like to be able to reliably determine how much oil is in my engine. I don't know what it is about the stupid dipstick but it always smears the oil so I don't feel like I get accurate readings.
Common senseYes but how does oil not scrape off the dip stick? It doesn't just come straight up. What am I missing? Legitimately curious.
So reaching under the strut tower brace, using two hands and a flash light (in some cases) to remove the oil dip stick without scraping the stick and getting an accurate reading 100% of the time is just common sense? Cool. Glad to see you adding so much value to the thread. You know if you don't have any real value to add to the thread, or if you're just here to troll because you find something to be the easiest thing in the world to do while others may not, you should just move on to the next thread or forum. All this is going to turn into is back and forth about nonsense as opposed to just simply assisting the OP.Common sense
