Ground Control Coilovers Issue

I went to have a complete set of GC coilovers installed but it looks like the strut holes are too small for the OEM strut bolts. Spoke with GC and they said they were a tight fit and should be forced on there using air tools. That doesn't seem right at all? The shop even refused to install them. Anyone have that issue with their Ground Control full coilovers?

GC is made in USA, but despite that, maybe they had some slight issues with tolerances for specific batch of coilovers for these cars? Again, never should be forcing a bolt through.

Thanks for confirming that it doesn't sound right. That could be a possibility. GC gave me the "We've sold plenty of kits without an issue" line so perhaps. Unfortunately, I will most likely just look into another set of coils.

You could always enlarge the holes that are in question, but again, it just doesn't normally have to happen.

What I notice is strange is the upper hole of the strut-to-knuckle bracket is elongated or oval, yet the lower is not, and it's super tight to the factory bolt, as you show. Something isn't right, seemingly.

GC did offer to enlarge the holes but warned that it could cause unwanted clunks or noises since the current holes are supposedly drilled to OEM spec.

Yeah, GC uses a stainless steel insert (second pic) in the upper hole to adjust for camber. You'll notice the little marker tab near the top hole indicating a neutral position.

your bolts have ridges on them. Their oblong spacer is designed for smooth shaft. So find a different set of bolts. Technically you can drive your splined bolts thru the hole or the spacer but that's not "correct" in my view. I can't tell from the 1st pic if the bolt drops all the way thru except for the splines. It should. If it doesn't then the hole is the wrong size.

The oblong hole (upper hole) and the SS (sure it's not aluminum?) spacer nullifies the oblong hole and centers the bolt.

Thanks! The bolt does not drop to the splines like on the OEM strut. Shop did recommend sourcing new bolts but I didn't think I had to with this kit. Wondering if anyone with these coils sourced new bolts or ran the OEM. Unfortunately for me, it doesn't seem like a commonly used setup on S550's like BC's, Pedders etc.
