I have snow tires mate, no worries. It's already difficult in winter. Everyone keeps telling me that lose converter will only make it worse - that's why I'm hesitating.

like others have said after 1st gear you wont even notice it. orr if you are really concerned about snow and a loose convertor with an auto just put it in 2nd.

Hell if you dont like the stall most stall companies offer free restall for X amount of months after purchase too.

My update is wheels and tires on in. Dominant1, you are exacly correct, my PP wheels weighed 62.5-63.5. My new setup is 54.5 for fronts and 56.5 for the rears. A loss of 7 lbs on each corner. This may help a little?

Wouldn't be a good update without pics:
not much sidewall for drag racing. 60 ft will suffer.

Much better than stock setup, this is not an all out drag car.

Gorgeous setup and congrats on the awesome numbers. ive been going back and forth all day on staying n/a or boosted. but truthfully this is making want to sway back to going n/a and maybe a lil nitrous as a cherry on top. my question is handling wise have you noticed any major difference in aggressive cornering without the strut tower brace being attached. that is honestly one of the, if no the only thing that is keeping me from finalizing my decision.
I wanted to go back and address this question now. After driving this weekend, my answer is no, but I'm not comparing apples to apples. I have a new setup with tires, 19x10 in front and 19x11 in rear with Michelin Pilot Sports 4S. The car is completely different and handles better than before. It even rides softer.

OK dad

Does it works in snow as well? :eyebulge:
You should have no issues if you drive it like it should be driven. Have you tried the rain/snow mode? It neuters the car bad. So throttle inputs are very lazy. I have only used it once to try it out. But damn, felt like a lazy 4 cylinder, not a 5.0. haha

The converter isn't bad at all when at low throttle positions. Again, it doesn't drive much different than stock until you stuff your foot into the throttle. More throttle = more torque = more stall speed.

The non-snow performance of the converter will way make up for the few times a year you have to be careful with the throttle in the snow.

"Proper" torque converter is like 1200 USD so this is something I need to consider very carefully

They are not a cheap modification. No doubt. But it won't be much more than that 4.09 gear and install.

The converter should help 60' times more so than the gearing. You will be able to launch harder as you will be at peak torque NOW. Where as the gearing will make the engine rev quicker, it will take time to get to peak torque. In racing time is everything.

I have not talked or read about anyone that didn't like a higher stall converter. There are guys that did gear changes and didn't have good results. Usually stock gearing versus a 3.55 or 3.73 gear. The Cobra Jet intake cars with 28" tire seemed to like the 3.31 gearing. Otherwise, the stock gearing seems to have worked better. I have yet to see someone install a higher stall and not show a better 60' & 330' times. Other than if they were spinning.

I'm a mech - I can change a ring and pinion by myself. Torque converter as well - I have a lift, skills and tools.

Gears are a very cheap option for me, converter is expensive.

I swapped my 3.15 gears to 3.55 with Wavetrac Torsen few months ago - now I regret not buying 4.09's :frusty:

Thought I would give you all update. 11.7@120 with a 2400 DA (corrects to 11.43@124). Race weight was 3980, yes she is HeAvY! Working on getting the tires broke in and proper launch techniques, it a whole new game but progressing steadily.

Evil 5.0 what is the run on E85 or pump gas? What kind of tires? Also have you replaced your engine mounts and differential mounts or are they still stock?
