Getting a new hood

So I've been noticing a small bubble on the leading site of my hood. I paid attention to it and watched for about 6 months. Finally took it to my local dealer and asked about it. They took pictures and sent them to Ford. This is a 2016 GT premium. About 3 weeks later I get a call from the dealer and Ford is replacing the hood under the 5 year corrosion warranty.

I have this also on my 17. Been holding off on taking it in only to get a replacement that was poorly painted or bad fitment...

Best to start the process ASAP. Let the dealer take pics and get the required approval. At that point you can wait if you want too. Of course it doesn’t really matter as eventually you will need to have it replaced.

That seems to be pretty common, i had this same issue on my old 12' GT. I have heard some people have gotten new hoods but then some had issues. I just decided not to worry about it on mine lol

They normally are slightly different from the factory. They are painted at different times and with different formulations of paint for metal and flexible parts.

My 2016 EB with 86k miles on it is at my dealer having the hood replaced under no-charge warranty right now.

I looked at my picture again and on the front you can see the reflection of my house, which is a weird yellowish color. Thats the reason for the off color.

Speaking of corrosion, does anyone else have the bolts on their door hinges that seem to be corroding?

I've pointed out a few spots bubbling up on my car but the dealer says I'll have to take it down to a service department in Fort Lauderdale.

So does ford give the dealer a credit to buy the hood and paint it or do they just send them the hood. I haven’t looked at mine but I know my old 14 had it so more than likely it’s there on this one and I know that people have gotten it again so I don’t even want to go through the process. The only way I would go through it is if ford gave the dealer a credit for the hood and they used that to order me an aftermarket fiberglass or carbon fiber hood even if I had to pay the difference.
