Gen3 intake manifold on a Gen2, tune "required"

Im in need of an intake on my 2016 GT. I have the Mt82, CAI, catless LTH and looking at swapping on the 2018+ intake. I do have an SCT4 and currently using the tunes that came with it. Im going to get the VMP harness and vapor hoses to keep everything working as normal. the reason Im not looking to tune is i see a Supercharger in the future, just not sure if its Whipple or Paxton/ESS.

1st question is, is a tune required to drive it, or is this 1 of those to get the most from it you should, or plug and play.

2nd question, is there a benefit to using the Ford intake for $450, or using a replacement like Dorman or the like for sub $200. I would buy a used intake, but theres nothing near me and with all the scams on marketplace, im not sending money unless I have it in hand. PFA

Dorman intakes made less power on the 4.6 so I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same on the 5.0

If you're going to add a blower just wait until you get that to put it on.

Can't run the Gen 3 manifold on a Gen 2 without a tune. The IMRC/CMCV systems are not compatible, so it's not plug and play.

If you want to change the intake manifold for power gains, the gains come from the tune, not the part. If yours is just broken, you can plug and play a GT350 manifold with a 80mm throttle body adapter. But that won't gain any power if you aren't tuning for it.

I would also argue that the Ford part is a better buy than the Dorman part. Performance differences aside, if you go to resell in the future, you can get $2-300 back for the Ford manifold. The Dorman will be near worthless as a used part, so you would probably be out the same amount of money in the end.

100% need a tune if you do a 18 manifold swap as well as a coupler as the intake will be angled different and can hit the hood. Even if you keep the IMRC's intact.

You can always get a tune and when time, you will just have to pay for the upgrade portion of it as you will already have the device.
