Coming home after 11:00 p.m. last night(Saturday night) I decided to take a couple of rural highways to avoid traffic on the usual highway i travel. This area is a hot spot for late night runs. I came upon a group of cars running together: an Elantra Sport (201 hp 4 cyl turbo) following what I thought was 2 S550's-it was dark. I got to the intersection of 2 rural highways a couple miles later (redlight)and the 3 cars pulled in behind me. I thought the headlights looked a little different for an S550. The light turned green, we made a left turn onto the 2nd highway and the first GT blew by me. Then I knew for sure that it was a S650 GT.
He eased out of it 1/4 mile up the road and the other 2 cars started hammering it. I said, "what the heck", this is the first S650 I have seen and I reeled him in to get a better look. I was trying to match his speed at 80 when I caught up to him and I was 1 and 1/2 car lengths behind him. He stomped it and so did I. At a buck + 10 I started to "walk him". By the time I got up to his front fender, he got off the throttle, and so did I.
My car is a Gen 3 Coyote with an A10-stock. I am guessing from his response time at 80 he also had an A10.
