So I am sitting in my garage, my car has been stationary for 24 hours, no entry no exit, and the fuel system just randomly primes as if I had opened the drivers door.

I do have a fuel system installed in the car and have a battery tender on the car at all times when not driving. The battery tender is connected directly to the battery and the fuel system is powered via the posts in the under hood fuse box.

My pumps came with a connector that plugged into the OEM plug near the fuel tank for OEM like priming. I’m baffled…..

Any idea what may have caused the fuel system to randomly prime?
Photo below shows the fuel pump power wires on the far left fuse box prong. My fuel pump ground is to the rear seat anchor as guided.

My car is stock. I have a tender attached to the fuse block, but I don't believe this affects the behavior being discussed.

The solenoids for fuel priming have randomly triggered on my car from day one; I've always considered the behavior normal. I can also cause them to activate by 1) opening the Driver's door (after not driving for several hours), 2) using the Ford Pass App, swiping and updating vehicle status, or 3) disconnecting and later reconnecting the battery cables.

LOL I’m telling you, if it can happen, it will happen to me. šŸ˜Ž.
I’m not sure if mine has ever primed the pumps on its own. But I know this car makes the most noise of any car I’ve ever owned. Mine hadn’t been driven since Saturday and yesterday it when cycling through with it’s noises that it does. The wife usually says your girlfriend is talking to you and tells her to shut up lol! I’ll keep an ear open for it priming thou.

I'm guessing it has to do with the car "sensing" an entry or proximity (like if you open the door). I've always felt like the key Fob stuff is schizophrenic. Sometimes I'll walk by the car and hear it unlock the doors, other times I'll be standing there with the fob in my pocket and try to open the door and it won't recognize and unlock it without me digging it out of my pocket and clicking.

Something is definitely "triggering" the FPDM prime cycle and we should examine all the ways that happens (depressing clutch, touching the accessory/start without starting, opening the door, etc.)

I'm pretty sure it has to do with proximity to the FOB. My Mustang and Explorer both do this. I'll hear the Explorer do it sometimes when I walk into the garage, or even if I'm sitting in it for a while with it off while I'm waiting on my son to get out of practice. The Mustang is really noticeable, because it's the loudest stock fuel system I've ever heard.

Appreciate the replies. I’ll stop worrying about it so much as I did some additional research and it seems to have happened to numerous forum members. I initially thought I had wired something incorrectly but I am pretty detailed about things and everything seems to be in proper order.

How soon did it do this when you ā€œsatā€ in the garage. How far was the KeyFob from the car?

If I’m washing my car and my KeyFob is in my pocket, my doors will lock/unlock and if it’s been 5 minutes since that cycle, my twin pumps will prime along with it.

(Obviously, my KeyFob now stays 30 feet from the car during this LOL)

Key fob was inside the house quite a ways away. I was in and out of the garage all day while the car sat untouched. As I was cleaning up the kids toys my car decided to make noises lol.

Mine does randomly too. I hear it when working out in the garage. Sometimes I have my fob in my pocket, sometimes I don't. I do have mine on a tender most of the time. Not only does the pump prime but I hear the active exhaust valves open and shut. I have heard that the valves do that randomly to keep them from siezing up. Don't really know. I don't worry about it as much as I used to.
