You guys with fuel systems, I see it says you should keep more fuel in the tank than normal, what does that mean exactly?.. never under 1/2 tank? Never under 1/4 tank? Does it really matter unless you’re beating on it?

I try not to go under half a tank… have I? Yes, I just won’t go hard on the car if it’s less than half a tank, don’t need the slosh effect to happen. Also the more i have in the tank means less heat buildup in the tank from all the pumps.

Right on. Makes sense. I drive it a decent amount to and from work, so just curious what other guys do and recommend.

so I got a new tune for the new system and injectors, I loaded it and got the leaks taken care of and ready to drive it, I emailed Wengerd but it’s Saturday and I don’t expect a response until Monday, but you think my tune would be dialed in already based off my previous tune or do I need to re-log it all?

He will most likely want logs just to make sure fueling is right and so he can make any adjustments that are needed if they are needed at all.

I figured, I’ll just let the car sit until I hear back then.

More than likely after you send the log you will get that email saying you are clear to send it, he is usually spot on with his tunes since he has done a lot of the same setups. But I always wait for the all clear or send it email before letting her get wild just in case. He actually caught a fueling issue I had when I dropped to the 95 mm, had I not logged and sent it to him I’d be sitting with a popped motor right now.

Another question you might have an answer to since I got you in here, this is how I have mine setup.. so do I just set it to 54psi how it is, or should I remove the vacuum line and cap it off and then set it to 54psi?

Set with vacuum source off and then put it back on after.

Totally depends on how the fuel tank and tune are set up. I am 100% confident that with the right setup you can run it complete out of fuel at wot and it won’t hurt a thing. Return style fuel systems with *most* aftermarket tuning? Who knows….

I set my base pressure to 55psi @ idle with vacuum applied to the regulator for both gasoline and Ethanol. Twin Ti274’s in a Radium basket setup.

I set it to 54psi without vacuum and then hooked up the vacuum again and it was at about 51psi. I’m just going to leave it until Monday when I hear back from my tuner.

Wengerd tuned my Lethal triple pump / single regulator system and it was spot on first tune. He did tune my car when it was N/A also.

I set mine to 55psi but I did it with the Key On and Engine Off. I just bypassed the FPDM with a jumper wire so the pumps would run constant with Key On. I thought it was easier that way and the gauge needle is rock steady when Engine is not running.

If you have naked pumps, you're risking fuel starvation and void pockets at anything less than 1/2 tank.

Keep in mind, the S550 fuel level is an average between the two saddles, it has two sending units and it takes both into account, so you could (in theory) have 1/2 tank of fuel with most of it being on the passenger side. This is obscure and unlikely, just something to consider.

Remember, left hand turns are bad and right hand turns are good. The OEM siphon system does continuously draw fuel from the passenger side over to the active pump driver's side, however, the flow is pretty puny. During right hand turns, the inertia and resulting forces help fuel to slide up and over the saddle to the driver's side. During left hand turns, the opposite. The more intense and the longer the duration, the more pronounced the fuel rearrangement will be.

When I had his tune he sent me a new revision for the fuel system so yes you need to log every revision to make sure it's calibrated properly.
Also he got me to set my pressure to 55PSI with Vac hose off.

Question, how long before the fuel leftover in the stock line (from the stock fuel hat) runs out?.. lol. Doing my logs now and it keeps leaking out, I wrap a towel around it and tape it up every time.. it SEEMS like it’s getting less and less every drive but wanna make sure it’s ok to leave unplugged like this.
