If this has been covered thoroughly, I apologize. I have tried a few searches and didn't see existing/dedicated threads.

I am looking at a 2020R out of state and hope to drive it off the lot this afternoon (about to book a flight). Through the extensive lurking on this forum, I found a few instances of people complaining about poor splitter installations. From various reports, I asked the dealer to send me pictures of the installed splitter to ensure it was properly seated. Unfortunately, the video I received is compressed and fuzzy, but even though the poor quality I believe I see a gap above the splitter and below the bumper with obvious slots for the splitter tangs across the front. Will someone please post images of their splitter so I can put my concerns to rest. I don't really have time to sit around and wait for their mechanic (I was told their expert did the prep work). I have an 850-mile drive home with the car and I don't want any issues.

It's definitely not installed properly. If installed correctly the holes you see will be covered by the splitter - there's tabs that go into the holes that hold it in place. Instructions tell you to cover the splitter and tap it in place with a rubber mallet after lining up the tabs. If the fasteners underneath are all installed it should be fine to drive. Also, I would inspect the bottom of the splitter because it can pop out if you scrape the splitter.

This was all helpful. :like:

And why in the heck I didn't find any of the above-referenced threads while clearing using the keyword "splitter" I cannot say. I will assume User Error

I have snipped a few strong examples of other's posted pictures, as well as a front view from the installation video. It makes me wonder if their mechanic does not use the "mallet method" explained. I was told the mechanic prepped their CFTP GT500, plus the other GT350s/Rs they have sold. I am torn....I have mentioned correcting the splitter a couple of times while going through the process, so I don't want to sound like a whining child, complaining because I don't think something is right. But I still think it should be correct on a brand new vehicle, regardless of price because countless examples tell me it isn't. At the end of the day, I might end up driving the car home as-is and having a local dealer make the adjustment. I can do it myself, but the "do it myself" option just pisses me off, because I didn't buy a new car to turn a wrench on something to make it how it was supposed to be given to me.

And the bummer news is ended up missing the flight this afternoon. So now I have to wait until Monday to pick up the car. I was not happy when I missed that flight, because I was in the airport 20 minutes before departure, but they would not let me even check-in. 😡🤬

I got my R new out of state and had it shipped to me. selling dealer in Texas installed the splitter wrong. I took it to my local dealer and they decided to do a second kind of PDI under warranty and redo the splitter. I assume they just would do it right so I got home from the dealer and realized they installed it wrong again. who knows maybe they didn't even touch it. but when I was purchasing the car sight unseen I repeatedly told the selling dealer to install the splitter right and to look at the Ford video and they said yeah yeah yeah we know how to do it. apparently many dealers don't know how...

Don't overthink it - it's not too bad to adjust that gap yourself and it only takes a few minutes to pop it into place and add the screws. Now that is provided they installed all of the other fasteners correctly! If not, then it's a little more involved but still not the end of the world.

Yup, I drove mine 20K miles before I realized it was not in right. It's easily fixable and as long as you're not hitting that necessary downforce in the triple digits you'll be fine. Just fix it when you can or have them do it. (I recommend you fix it and they just knock off some price off the deal).

For me it is the principle, not my ability.

I sent a series of pictures to the dealership showing very good before and after images from another splitter thread. The result is the splitter was corrected before I arrived to pick up the car.😁
