I have been hearing a “clunk” or “knock” in my front end. I diagnosed it, hear no noise while normal driving, going over bumps, or when rocking the car side to side when stopped, or pushing down on each corner of the car while stopped, to compress suspension. I am hearing the noise that seems to be coming from the front, when the rotors spinning direction is changed(rolling forward, hitting brakes to stop, rolling backwards, hitting brakes to stop) the clunk only happens when I’m rolling and hit the brakes for an abrupt stop, the noise then will not happen again until I reverse and hit the brakes hard to stop. Took drivers wheel off and spun the rotor by hand and when I would change the rotor rotation by hand I could hear a minor clunk(not as loud as when then wheel is on and I do it with the brake pedal) ALL bolts are tight on calipers and suspension parts. I think it might be the brake pads moving inside the caliper when the rotor rotation changes. Anyone have this issue or know what it might be?

You probably right. the clunk could come from brakes.
I had similar problem in the challenger. especcially when the car is cold you hear this little clunk just before coming to a full stop.
I fixed it putting some brake grease between calipers and the shim and between the shim and the pads.

could be your pads worn out enough so there's some space between the rotor and pad, so when you hit the brake pedal there's extra travel until it makes contact with the rotor which is why you hear the clunk

There’s no space between the rotor and pads. I checked, and when I spin rotor by hand I can hear the pad rubbing slightly

Sounds about right OP. Pads could very well be clunking back and forth. Worn pad backplates or caliper/shims would cause it.

If you have a manual, it's not uncommon to get noises like this in the exact same situation that's actually coming from the driveline slop, not the brakes or any suspension part.

how many miles since the pads were changed and is the noise recent or it started shortly after changing the pads?
did you check for worn front sway bar links?

How many miles?

at 50,000 my front control arm bushings are sloppy. I get a clunk when braking and another when letting off.

Chased the calipers, the sway bar, and the struts, but couldn't find anything loose. Had the dealership put it on a lift with a load on the suspension and they found the culprit.

Could be axle retaining nuts, which is a common issue with these cars. BMR recommends removing the axle nuts, cleaning the threads, applying thread locker, then torqueing to 150 lb/ft plus 45 degrees. The front is a 36mm, the rear is 32mm, I believe.

Update: brakes have not been touched, car has 22,000 miles. I’m thinking it isn’t suspension parts because the noise ONLY happens when the rotor rotation changes and I press the brake. IE: rolling forward, press brakes, back up, press brakes) noise occurs when brakes are pressed for initial stop, if I’m backing up and press brakes, makes noise, if I back up againa Nd press brakes, no noise unless I then go forward and press brakes.

I had this...base GT, swapped pads and the clunk went away. Try it.

It's the brake pads shifting in the caliper.

I had a similar noise and fixed it by lubricating the brake pad slider.
