No one considered importing a GT350/GT350R from Canada?
Last week I visited a local dealership there were some 2017 GT350 left-overs with $8,000 - $10,000 off MSRP. New car, 10-15kms on the clock.
R's were at MSRP last time I checked. (Jan 2018)
From my understanding you can’t import an R into the U.S., at least not easily.

Did anybody actually call and confirm? Usually, the internet ads turn out to not pan out.
This one came up on another thread. I called them, they did drop it from $20k over to $5k over about 3 weeks ago. They have several offers, including me multiple times at MSRP. I think they have had the car for a long time. The owner of the dealership was just sitting on it to see if anyone would pay the $20k but now they realize it's time to move it. I call them every Saturday to see if they are ready to sell it to me at MSRP. I think someone will get it for $2-$3k over soon.

5/5 Update: talked to them again today and they won't budge on the $5k over...but the car is still sitting there unsold after a month of the ADM being dropped $15k.

This is why I'm not willing to pay anything over MSRP for a new one. I've seen several used ones go for around $65k so I know I'll be able to get a good used one under MSRP at some point. I do like the LB with the black roof the most, although there are several other good colors.

What did you get for it? Private party or dealer?

Most people who don’t like these cars prefer low end torque. Other than that, and besides the cars overall big size, there isn’t much to fault in the driving dynamics.

What’s the reason you didn’t like the R?

slowest 500 hp car I've ever had....on the other hand prob best looking mustang ever...i always have turbo cars and that high rpm power band wasn't working for me...im sure its great on a track but that tram lining all over the road sucked also...i ended up putting a Hellion kit on a 2018 gt and at least for me its a better fit

I would like you to show me where an R model was offered in the GTA for MSRP in recent months?

Keep dreaming!!

;)
Funny.
I'm not the only one in this thread that stating you can find an R at MSRP in Canada. What incentive do I get to BS around with false info here????

January this year, Donway Ford had an 2017 R they were willing to let go at MSRP. They even gave me free parking in their heated indoor facility till April. I ended up with my 2017 non-R with $10K off MSRP.
Weather gets warmer now, market isn't that soft these days and I have seen 350R asking for $140,000 last week (+$50K over MSRP), speechless.

Not here to suggest that an R model cannot be bought at MSRP in other locations in Canada as those deals are out there but those few deals typically take place in smaller cities and locations in Canada and not the GTA which I was specifically referring to.

I was in Quebec City a year ago and the local Ford dealer there had 3 R models in their showroom all listed for sale at $150,000.

Based on your comments about Donway Ford I find it interesting as I have a number of car buddies in the GTA all of which have purchased R models from dealerships in the GTA namely Donway Ford, Summit Ford, Dixie Ford and Discovery Ford and not one of them struck a deal at MSRP.

Looks like they all missed the boat last January.

Yep they did missed the boat. If you or your buddy want to trade in your 350 for something else, this crazy discount is reflected in the trade in quote as well.
I don’t have any comments on folks paying over MSRP and seems people get pretty defensive already. I had to bit a low-ball trade-in offer to get my GT3 allocation (Not the 350, I still have it). Just pay for what I want at the price I want.
Cheers.

Just paid 5k over for my '18 base R.... was happy to get the allocation and this was the going price. There were no base cars out there for less and the window was closing. Now that we've passed the 4/30 cut-off for Ford to build an R without the electronics package, the only way to get a base R is to find one unsold at a dealership or go with a used one. I wanted to be the first (and only) owner and wanted to pick the color combo, so I consider the up-charge the cost of getting it the way I wanted.
