you can get the F6 update here if you sign into this guys website with either facebook or youtube...

https://s550.guru/f6-kartenmaterial-update-ford-sync3-navigation/

it works for 2.3 and 3.0 versions of sync.

i'm going to try updating to 3.0 first then see about putting F6 maps on. i would normally use Android Auto but it's been playing up for me of late so i'm hoping V3.0 will help (i've mentioned this in another post)

How do you get an official map update then? Are you stuck with the same for the life of the vehicle?

officially yeah you're stuck unless you can pay ford to upgrade you but last time I spoke to ford about updating my sync3 maps they said you couldn't so I'm going to try the method Chappers has linked above seems easy enough just gotta go for a couple of hours drive i'm sure I can manage that

"We're committed to enhancing and improving upon the SYNC & Maps driving experience. And to make it even better, we will periodically release software updates so you have the latest version of SYNC & Maps to keep you up-to-date and in-the-know."

Technically, one every millennium would satisfy that commitment.

i've managed to download the maps but i'm having trouble with the coding of autoinstall.lst i've contacted the owner of the site and he's helping me resolve the issue. once i have more i'll update you all.

Hmm might be worth asking the dealer to do this when mine is in being serviced anyway in the next couple of weeks :)

It works but bloody hell is it a pain. After following some trouble shooting advice I split the installation into two, one for the new voice file, the second for the check file and maps.

I did the upgrade to Sync3 3.0 first, then the voice update, then the map update to F6, re-using the memory stick between each stage. Sync 3 update took about half an hour, Voices took about 50 minutes, maps took 10 minutes. The Sync system seems sensitive to the type of USB drive you're plugging in. Not just that it should be ExFAT formatted, but some memory sticks it just doesn't like and throws up errors. Initially I was using one memory stick for the sync update and another for the maps but it maps always threw up errors after the Sync update had worked fine, so from that point on I did everything using the first USB stick which had worked.

Stage 1 should come pre-formatted in the Ford download - just check that the data files are in a subfolder and the autoinstall and DONOTINDEX files are in the root folder when you copy across. For stages 2 and 3 you need the autoinstall file in the root folder and the *.tar.gz data files in a subfolder called SyncMyRide each time.

My auto install files were:

Stage 1 - 2.3 to 3.0 auto install comes with

Stage 2 - Voice

[SYNCGen3.0_ALL]

Item1 = Navigation Voice
Open1 = SyncMyRide\JR3T-14G422-BB.tar.gz

Options = Delay, AutoInstall

Stage 3 - Maps
First edit the name of the licence key file to remove the suffix, so it just reads JR3T-14G424-BB.tar.gz and then matches up with the autoinstall open1

[SYNCGen3.0_ALL]

Item1 = PartNo Reference
Open1 = SyncMyRide\JR3T-14G424-BB.tar.gz
Item2 = Maps
Open2 = SyncMyRide\JR3T-14G421-BB.tar.gz

Options = Delay, AutoInstall

End result is:

Interesting I have a US car, had Sync with the US Maps, got it updated to the European Maps and now Version 2.0 but can't get Waze on it.
I guess I need a new update, and I guess it will be the UK one as I have the UK Maps.
Might have to try this this weekend, use a 32gb stick should be enough ? :headbonk:
How did you get it updated to European maps? I was under the impression that EU maps require totally different hardware because more memory is required. Is that not the case?

When I got my car in June 2016 the Sync 3 was not over here yet, so my importer had to wait till he could get his tech guys to work on the Sync 3 in the Euro Stang, I was told the new Maps would be £250 and all the work I got a call around Feb last year saying they can now install the Euro Maps, and it took around 2 hours, and when I said to Richard "here is my Credit card" he said don't worry about it, so got them for free
It also updated the whole Sync 3 to version 2 at that time, gave me Android Auto. Been all round Europe and the maps are very good.
Now Richard went out of his way for me, as with the lights as it was "their car" Not sure he would do this for a car which is not theirs? Do you have a US Import?

Wow, so I guess it is possible without changing hardware. Yes, my car is a 100% U.S. spec GT350 Tech. No Euro mods--not even the lights or exhaust. Only mods are typical oil separator, etc, but all from the U.S. I would love to know how to get Euro maps loaded.
