Silverstone will host a Sprint Race next year.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/articles/ckge4lyyrw0o

"Silverstone last hosted a sprint in 2021, the year the format was introduced.

The biggest surprise is the addition of Singapore to the sprint schedule - the difficulty of overtaking at the street circuit does not automatically make it look like a natural fit for a sprint event.":facepalm:

F1 2026 sprint events
China 13-15 March
Miami 1-3 May
Canada 22-24 May
Great Britain 3-5 July
Netherlands 21-23 August
Singapore 9-11 October

Hello; todays qualifying is evidence enough this track needs to be off the schedule. sadly if i heard correctly it is to remain for more years.

Ferrari continues to be Ferrari.

Piastri knows where the wall is located.

Tsunoda did not embarrass himself.

Hello; just finished watching the race. I tried to feel for Piastri but could not. He did screw his race up all by himself. Even influenced Alonzo to jump the start, but that is on Alonzo.
Max pulled out another one.
Tsunoda was not in the bottom ten.
Lawson held off some fast cars.

Another tire strategy & pit stop race.

"Norris could only gain six points on Piastri, who leads the world championship by 25 points with seven races remaining this season."

"The pit stop itself didn't make any difference because we would have ended up pretty much in the area of Leclerc," Stella told Sky Sports F1."

"For me, the most important takeaway was that the car wasn't fast enough."

"With a fast enough car, I think we would have been able to overtake and then have some free air and in free air actually use the full potential.”

Hello; I guess this is universal in racing. That being if the car is fastest, it can be driven pass other cars. Duh.

Hello; For a moment or two I confused the McLarens with Ferrari this past weekend.

Hello; Max did it again. With seven races to go, he is not out of the championship contest. Even Tsunoda was able get a better finish from the RB.
I do not know how to judge the improved RB performance the last two races. Can it be the shake up in management? Have they found and improved some things for the car?
Could we see Max taking the contest to Piastri in the last corner of the last race?

For those like Jeff who did not watch the race, the 2 second longer pit stop resulted in Lando rejoining barely behind two cars he would have joined in front of with a typical stop. Incredibly stupid for team to say no effect because nothing stopped Lando from just passing them. Maybe Mclaren was under the impression that lap count would be suspended until he was in front of them. I guess they didn't pull him in early for no other reason than to keep those two cars from undercutting him. 🙄

Lewis Hamilton under fire for ‘falling asleep’ as Leclerc rues ‘stupid’ incident

Hello; Got tricked into reading the story by the "falling asleep" line. gist of the story seems to be LH did not follow orders and did not let Leclerc by near the end of the race. I understand it is a 7th & 8th place squabble so not a big deal overall. But who is actually surprised by such actions by LH? I am not. Fits past actions.
I suspect LH has not accepted that he is the #2 driver.

Some details on the driver cooling vests and systems being used this weekend.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/articles/c80g98mye3go#comments

"Formula 1's governing body has declared this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix a 'heat hazard' race.

The FIA's ruling, triggered because temperatures are predicted to exceed 31C amid high humidity in the tropical environment, means drivers could be using cooling vests during the race.

Using the vests is not mandatory but teams must fit the system to their cars to ensure any drivers not using them does not gain an advantage by having a lighter car."

https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/articles/cy87jg80zyjo

"Formula 1 is to introduce a device to cool drivers when conditions become too extreme in hot weather.

The move, which from next season will mandate a "driver cooling kit" when a heat hazard is declared, is a response to last year's Qatar Grand Prix.

A number of drivers needed medical attention for either dehydration or heat exhaustion after a race run in high temperatures and humidity."
