McLaren made quite a mess of the strategy. There was zero danger from Lewis for the win. They did not need to pit Lando first and they also did not need to leave it 2 laps before they did pit Oscar. Oscar had a great race no doubt but if he was quick enough to win without team orders he would have. Should have been Lando’s 2nd win.

Hello; A more interesting race. Much less of a follow the leader parade. Max begins to whine more on the radio but still several levels below Lewis in that regard. I think he will get there with more time in a less than superior car.

I do not disagree with you but Oscar should not have been penalized for McLaren’s stupid error. But they are young and learning. Racing at the front is more than the having the fastest car or the best driver.

Hello; Looks like four teams are now competitive. None may be dominant in the past sense of knowing they will win if things are normal. Too early to crown MB but if they do prove to be dominant there is an irony for Lewis. He may get to watch the MB's from behind in a Ferrari before long.
May be that Lewis did a classy thing in not risking a late pass on Russell. Such is hard for me to believe based on past less than classy examples.

Max appeared to drive a smart race in the sense of the championship this time. Last time he tried to force things and hurt himself in terms of points. But much like Lewis turning over a new leaf, such is not so easy to believe. He raced his rival and finished well ahead of his starting position. The RB is not the cream of the crop currently.

Pretty incredible that Mercedes messed up so badly that Russel was disqualified.

Because Russell did a 1 stop and had his tires on for 34 laps, there was less rubber on the tires. Couldn’t pickup rubber on the cool down lap. That’s why his car was lighter.

Hello; Did not know of this.
Hello; Underweight due to low fuel. That is a screw up.

Hello; Takes some of the shine off that 105 I reckon. Not quite so problematic as Schumacher's win at Indianapolis when Ferrari balked preventing the closest competition from using safer tires.

Oh wow, that thought never occurred to me!

Car was underweight by 2.5kg.
Just came home and saw this. A terrible disappointment for George and the team. The article I read stated 1.5kg which is 3.3lbs. Easy to pick up a pound per tire on the cool down lap. But it is what it is.

Yes and no. Or rather no and yes. The weight that must be met is after all fuel is removed. Screw up: yes. Due to low fuel: no.

Think Toto and Lewis are wondering if maybe they made too big a deal about Masi in Abu Dhabi?
