Checo actually had a good day. Now if he would only learn the how to judge the DRS zones like Max did.

Agreed, if checo can be consisten he would be able to close the gap to to Max and that’s about it. Max right now is in a league of his own. I don’t even think that either Alonzo or Lewis could catch him if they were in a RB car. He’s in a groove like Schumacher was in a groove at his prime. Untouchable and unshakable.

Hello; I vaguely recall that this track limits stuff was not such a big thing just a few years ago. I am trying to recall how/why the rules started to be so strictly enforced.
I have a vague recollection it was part of that period when interpretation of rules were used to try to help out Lewis and punish Max. I even heard the screecher and the other announcer criticize Lewis today. Seems they had to listen to him whine on the radio a lot today. Thankfully not all his radio messages were broadcast.

Probably mostly complaints about the ridiculous enforcement that resulted in a 5 second penalty, interspersed with "tell Race Control I just saw .......... exceed track limits!"

I'm frankly amazed that all drivers didn't get at least 5 seconds added. I heard the drivers coming up with solutions and one was the fact they couldn't tell if they were on or over the line and that making the lines 'rougher' to give feedback to the driver might be the answer.

Am interested in the penalty seconds imposed AFTER results had been posted.

Viewers/fans/bookies will put up with timely penalties but not finding out later they paid off a bet they won.

And I am stunned drivers wholesale earn these types of penalties in a race. I can understand risking it in qualifying with time for another attempt and where a tenth can mean multiple grid spots, but it makes no sense to risk 50, 100, 150, .... 300! tenths to maybe save a few tenths one at a time in a race. Particularly when its pretty apparent those drivers are either not capable of staying in bounds OR are dumb enough to think a 1 to 50 tenth trade is a good deal. The fact that a 5 second penalty with a late safety car could turn a podium into no points at all makes it even more ridiculous to stray a half inch past some line.

I get that it is probably almost impossible to always know within a half inch where the car is in a corner. But the fact that most drivers are capable of adjusting their personal track limits to match that reality makes it hard to sympathize for those who can't/don't.

living here in Vegas I can tell you no bet is paid out until the results are official. After every race you’ll always see it say “unofficial standings”. Once the Stewards/Officials/Organization goes through and makes sure nothings missed as far as penalty’s and that if that particular series does an Inspection, the cars pass, then it’s official and bets will be paid out then.

Never a fan of races determined by stewards....but this year the winner is already known.

However those behind the winner are fun to watch until track limit penalties get involved.

Was watching mid Ohio Indy last weekend. The rumble strips were 3-4’ it looked like and then it was grass. Works like it should. Funny there was zero bs in that race about track limits.

Not a Lewis fan or anti-fan, but will say that he doesn't whine anymore than anyone else. He especially isn't as communicative as Max (not a fan or anti-fan of his either). It's also notable that F1 picks and chooses which comms they broadcast. You have to go into individual driver mode on the F1 app to capture all of the drivers' chatter, and even then there is probably some that we don't hear.

Lol, what a crock. Which team principle came on and told the driver to drive the car? I could care less what any of them say. We all if we’re halfway normal say …. in the heat of the moment. Atleast the non-neutered do.

If I were a driver and knew that the whole world was listening in on my conversations with my team, I would speak in code. "My front brakes don't feel right" would actually mean tell me how many seconds I am behind the driver in front of me. To which the team would respond, "we've checked them, they're good for four more laps", which would mean I'm four seconds behind. Or something along those lines...

Which team principal admitted that the car continues to be "bad?" That being the case, should a driver not point out when he is still struggling with the car?

It made news, because that's what the broadcasters decided to highlight. Smart move, because it's generating interest.

My favorite this season was: "The stewards should have a look at that. He was intimidating me a lot.”
