They really are useless. Mine was ordered as an Auto not Manual by mistake. I managed to swap to another car that was just delivered that was close enough.... But man FFS how do they get so many wrong. Its not rocket science.

have you checked the post from Andy Barrett and whether any of the 19 cars he mentioned meet the spec you actually wanted?

Update on Gowrings and our sad situation

I'd like to tell you all its all sorted but sadly its just got a whole lot worse. Gowrings ceased trading effectively on Monday, they never told any of their customers this. We have only been able to get some facts and progress by physically turning up on site today as all other methods, email, phone calls etc failed.

Sadly lots of staff and Directors appear to have already left the business and even though on Saturday 10th they promised to either supply us with the correct car or refund our money in reality until today absolutely nothing had been done. In all my years (and believe you me its my job to know) there is only one other brand I've experienced who can get it this wrong and forget that customers who buy there products is all that ultimately matters.

Ford really have got to look at how they run their network as our situation should just not be possible. I currently have no car, Gowrings have ÂŁ40k of my money and at this stage they are not prepared to resolve. We are in limbo.

I expect Gowrings to officially go into administration at the weekend.

:ford:Ford UK were on site today and are taking up our case but after initially saying they'd sort us out even a temporary car they backed off and said it was Gowrings to do so. Both Gowrings and Ford UK have committed to giving us an update on Monday afternoon what they are going to do:confused:

We are not holding out much hope so given our busy lives will be appointing lawyers on Monday to just sort this out for us.

Why am I still considering having a Ford eventually!!!!!!!

Have you have paid in full? How did you pay? How come you had paid for the car in advance of seeing it?

Gutted for you.
They must have known they were circling the drain when you turned up for the original car; the wrongly ordered one? Somebody at that point should have quietly told you to take the car at that point then fight your position from there. At least them you'd have a car.
It defies any sense of common decency.

I can't begin to imagine how worrying/stressful this must be for you... especially as they've already got your money, essentially by default.

I think you are right to jump on this without delay and refer it to a lawyer... trouble is, as always, that costs and it's then someone else making a (very excessive) profit from your misfortune.

Can only keep our fingers crossed for you and hope it all works out OK in the end, as wouldn't be one bit surprised if Ford UK do fuck all to help the situation based on their reputation for customer care/service!

Undoubtedly SOMEONE knew. Very unlikely anyone below director level or the head of accounts though.

I think Ford as a multi-national organisation, not just Ford UK, have a moral duty here to anyone affected by this situation, as it's otherwise a rather large blemish on their reputation ( if they care - Andy Barratt ).

Assuming, as would be expected, that Gowrings were a franchise, Ford as a corporation must have some legal obligations?

We did a bank transfer on the day of pick up, I held 1k back in case something minor was not right, never ever thought when they'd had the car for nearly 3 weeks to check it would be the wrong spec!

Its probably worth saying we expect Gowrings to do nothing. Our approach will then be to get the car as we have as much legal right to it as anyone else so I'm pretty confident an Administrator can't sell it. It'll all probably take a bit of time to pull this off as I've had to deal with Administrators in my business life and sadly creditors such as myself will be low down the priority list. We've over paid but then get Ford UK to take it off our hands at what we paid and if I come up breathing from that take stock.

Yeah, if they are going in to administration then you'll not see a penny back. The best you can hope for is either getting access to the car youve already paid for and sell it for a small profit, or for Ford to sort you out another.

I wouldnt even be too fussed on colour, just get the best specced one you can and then sell it.

sorry to hear your horrible news, i know it might be a long shot, but have you spoken to Watchdog they are usually up to investigate this stuff. might scare them a bit and Ford UK, give then the name of Andy Barrett
also i cant be positive but at the Henley Boat Car show, i'm sure that Gowrings were there trying to sell the Mustang, but they went under City Motors? maybe its not the same dealership?
