Ford Racing ProCal Tune

I would love to get the pro cal tune but when I called my ford dealer where I bought my car they didn't even know what I was talking about, that was in St. Augustine.

My guess is I am going have to go to either Daytona Beach or Jacksonville to get it done, which is ok, so need to make some calls tomorrow.

My "performance" mods so far are resonator delete, oil seperator add and intercooler upgrade, wondering if any of these will affect my ability to get the tune under warranty?

I really hope the lower gear shift points are sorted out with the tune, in the upper three gears my ecoboost rocks but in the lower 3 gears around town the shift points could be tightened up in my opinion.

Also wondering if the tune will address throttle and turbo lag, I more or less have taken care of that with my pedalmax mod, if that's the case then perhaps I can sell it off.

Your intercooler and oil separator will not impact the warranty. Also, remember you can take the car to an ASE certified technician. So you can buy it from a Ford dealer that will sell it for a discount like Steve Powell at Tasca Ford who provides great prices and service, then having a good local shop with an ASE certified technician install it and send in the paperwork for the warranty.

I have a 2016 non-performance package with 6spd mt. I just got this package installed at my dealer a few weeks ago for $285. It's a big improvement. I haven't driven a performance car with a mt before. I was getting 5.9-6.0 secs 0-60 stock. After this package, 5.3-5.4 secs 0-60.

I haven't done one yet - and honestly im not a good enough driver to get a consistent result, best pre-tune ive done was like a 7.1. (stick car, and i dont shift super fast)

Which dealership did you get it installed? How much did they charge?

Right now we know Waldorf Ford will install it and they charge around $220.

Mines a stick, install was done at ted britt in fairfax - they charged $275 (2hrs labor)

If it were me, I'd ask if I could do the intake installation. That must be more than half of the install time. There's no way they could take more than an hour to flash in the tune. That way it would at least cut the install cost by 50%. All they would need to do is inspect the installation. Not sure if they would do that but it'd be worth a try.

I would also DEFINITELY do this at a shop other than Ford. Installing an intake and flashing a tune in is EXTREMELY basic. We've all seen how Ford technicians can mess stuff up and I'm sure people have shops they trust instead. I would think they would be much more flexible and willing to work with you. Most likely for less than $120/hr too!

Considering Waldorf Ford has done at least one tune install, I'd trust them.

When I had a situation with my car that one dealer would not help me with/gave me wrong info, Waldorf Ford helped me.

I'd go to the shop right down the street from me near Frederick, MD before I'd go to any Ford dealer. Any good shop will have at least 1 ASE certified tech.

That's good to hear. I plan to get the Pro Cal tune along with an intercooler in the spring.

Not to be that guy but the search bar does wonders here lol. All of this has been addressed. In short, when you get the kit installed, you just email FP all of your information about the install/car itself. Anything damaged by the tune is covered under the FP warranty. Everything else is still under your factory warranty.
As for the tune, just read the reviews stated before this, they are all pretty consistent, shifting is much smoother in D mode and shifts much harder in S/S+ mode. Our cars reach boost at 2K rpm, hardly any turbo lag lol and just put it in sport mode if u want better throttle response. Ditch the pedalmax ASAP regardless if you get the tune, those have been proven to be death sentences for our cars (been a couple threads about blown engines that ran it before BOOM).
