People seem to refer to these two interchangeable but I understand that the Borla Toruing comes with a resonator unlike the Ford Performance exhaust, is this true? So the Ford Performance is louder?

Which Ford Performance option are you referring to? There's a Touring and a Sport, and for 18+ an Extreme option as well.

I think it would be something like this: FP Touring < Borla Touring < FP Sport < Borla S-Type < FP Extreme < Borla Atak.

There is a longer thread somewhere on this forum that puts the FP/Borla options in order of loudness, used it when shopping for mine.

Cant speak of comparisons but i can highly reccomend the FP Borla Touring - subtle when it needs to be and a nice racy tone when you step on it. By no means super loud, i think if it as a bit if a happy medium. Seeing as mine is my daily, i didn’t want to go too loud and IMO its perfect for that

I can attest the Borla S-type with a FP X-pipe is very loud and may/may not upset your neighbors during cold starts.

I have the Ford GT 350 Sport setup. It was loud but not manageable with the stock headers and cats. Once I added BBK Long Tube headers w/o cats, it was very loud and raspy. I added the Borla resonator and it is perfect. Plus the raspiness is gone and I get a lot compliments on the growl. On track days, the car sounds like a race car speeding down the straightaways rather than a tame street car.

Thanks have you got the Borla Touring with the associated resonator? I don't want too loud but i want it to be slighly louder than stock. How about mixing S type Borla with resonator ie. without x/h pipe?

I thought it depends on if you have the resonator or not that makes the big difference ie. no x/h pipe? What do you think about S type with resonator?

The S Type w/resonator turns it into the touring catback. I bought the resonator for my S-Type since cold starts before 7am in my neighborhood are high on wake the neighbors scale.

The Borla Touring catback has a resonated h-pipe, meaning that is basically an h-pipe surrounded by a “muffler”.
I was very unsure as to what was the right catback for me and I investigated all of the options/combinations and setups.
I wanted something slightly to moderately louder than stock but with a deeper tone and no rasp.

IMHO, the Borla Touring sounds awesome and was the best choice for the volume and tone I desired.

I agree with this assessment. I have a video posted on this forum comparing the stock system to the Borla.

I have the FP by Borla Touring catback system (x-pipe replaces the stock resonator) and have been very happy with it. In my case it took a couple thousand miles for it to break in (it was raspy when new) but IMO it is the perfect exhaust. Quiet and deep below 3K rpm but above that it screams almost as loudly as the full on "extreme" type systems. Best of both worlds IMO.
