Anybody know the difference between the M-5490-E and M-5490-G sway bar kits from Ford Performance? They both say they fit Mustang GT from 2015 on, but not details about what's different.

You can get the GT350R sway bars and bushings/brackets for like 180 shipped. It’s a noticeable improvement over stock PP bars, and an easier pill to swallow than 450-500 that aftermarket charge, especially since the GT350R bars are the same, or very similar diameter to most aftermarket bars too.

E is
36.5mm front (does not have the bushing shaft collars and sway bar will move side to side)
25mm rear

G is
37mm front (does have the shaft collare)
25.2mm rear

Awesome! Thanks for that.
G looks like it might have a stiffer front bias than the E, so would have more of a push tendency no?

Need more information. For starters, solid or tubular, wall thicknesses if tubular, effective 'arm' lengths.

Of course, but in theory, if like for like, that would be the case no?

Very slightly. Maybe on the order of 30 lb/in more front bar rate with only 5 or 10 lb/in more rear bar rate.

G seems to be more of a slight performance enhancement.
E seems to be more hardcore, recommended you add a bunch of other parts, and "Used in Justin Pawlak’s Formula Drift Mustang ". It's shipping weight is 5 pounds more, so possibly thicker bar. Not sure I want that level of performance.

"Theory" is out the window. All things being equal, the larger "G" set would be stiffer at both ends, but that's not what the description seems to indicate.

Frpp stopped Making the E model but they do still sale it untill it runs out. I don't like the E series at all. Without the shaft collars the front bar moves side to side.

Summit has it for $419 shipped.

Thanks for the info, I hadn't thought of that option. It'd be a big jump from my stock EB bars but I checked all the part numbers and the brackets, links and hardware are all the same, so it's still just bars and bushings. $175 shipped in my case. The one drawback that I see is the lack of adjustability compared to aftermarket sway bars.

Somebody at least used to make clamp-on collars. Might have been Hellwig, not sure any more.

I have the M-5490-E and have had issues with the bushings sliding and/or shifting on the front bar. I contacted Ford Performance and there was no response. So I guess their response, without telling me, was to redesign the front bar with collars.

The bars were originally light blue but I had them powder-coated black.

Well; I beat them to the punch because I had the install shop fabricate some collars. I no longer have any issues anymore.

↑↑↑ you realize that you only needed to make either the two inside collars or the two outside collars . . . no need to do both sets.
