The Nguage plugs into your OBDII port and has various ECU tunes in it. Some dealerships will void your warranty if the ECU has been tampered with. Plus it's like $600.If I didn't have the PP I would just buy one of those Ngauge devices.
You mean like a sticker over that makes it look like it has texture? I thought it was legitimately machined that way.Aluminum with a vinyl applique.
Ford did that with the 08/09 Bullitts (real turned alum pieces)--cost Ford serious money to do it, never again. They call it "engine turned aluminum", I thought it was a process with a machine that they added the texture to it.
If you don't actually flash anything you can just use the ngauge as an OBD device and read all the CAN data from the ecu. You don't HAVE to flash with it, there are other devices for cheap that do this same thing though if you're not going to flash a tune. Just look up scan gauge on amazon. The Nguage plugs into your OBDII port and has various ECU tunes in it. Some dealerships will void your warranty if the ECU has been tampered with. The best bang for the buck IMHO for the Eco is the Roush/Yates - JMS BoostMax. It DOES NOT leave any footprint in the ECU, it just changes the signals coming from various sensors to change the fuel/air map and boost levels. Adds about 40HP and 80TRQ for $300. Not bad.
I'll probably just do a Roush boost gauge when they come out with one to replace the center a/c vent. Lot's more parts coming for these cars!
So it's 100% not real? They list it as suchFord did that with the 08/09 Bullitts (real turned alum pieces)--cost Ford serious money to do it, never again.
I thought it was real aluminum, but basically a very thin sheet, like aluminum foil (more like aluminum tape, if you've ever used that stuff). So it's 100% not real? They list it as such
are you sure? It feels an awful lot like plastic, and if its aluminum underneath Ford did a terrible job finishing itAluminum with a vinyl applique.
You can frequently pick up an entire used GT PP suspension here on 6G for under $500, including shocks and springs. Cheaper than aftermarket, although probably not quite as good for track days.I opted out of the PP due to getting the 50th Ann package, which included wheels and if you got that and the PP, you didn't get two sets of wheels or credit for getting one set of wheels.
Also, since my Eco is a DD, the summer tires didn't make much sense, and at 54, I'm not a black wheel guy AT ALL. YUK!
I did put on a set of GT front brakes, which are the PP brakes on the Eco and man, what a difference. Tracked the car at Barber and my instructor was VERY impressed with the braking on the car. I plan on adding Steeda springs or Eibach's and some beefier sway bars, so outside of any computer tuning, which my dealer can most likely do, and the larger radiator, I'll end up with a PP essentially. Albeit without the awesome center gauges, which I thought was the coolest thing about the PP, but not worth $2000. It's certainly not worth the $3500+ it'd take now to do the conversion the right way, and as fickle as these computerized cars are, no way am I going messing around with wiring harness's!
Thanks for the heads up. Since I already have the brakes, that was the big thing for me. As you stated, the stock GT PP springs and bars are most likely not as good as those from Steeda, MM, and others. Just wish Kenny Brown would get his SN550 stuff out. I just love that guy (and Cari) and want to support him as he rebuilds his business. Nothing against Steeda and all the others who make great stuff, but Kenny's story is amazing. I mean, the guy literally died TWICE! We're lucky to have his expertise around. Now we just need his parts for out cars! You can frequently pick up an entire used GT PP suspension here on 6G for under $500, including shocks and springs. How do headers, which for the Eco don't exist yet, make the car go around a track faster? Corner entrance (braking) and corner exit are much more important. I was blowing s197 Saleens off Barber by over 2 sec a lap with better brakes and the independent rear, which gave me much quicker corner exit. Sure I could spend $2000 on a new down pipe and cat-back exhaust install, but then I'd have to get into the ECU to get the most out of it.Use the money to purchase headers. Much more practical.
