Some people say they go with 315/35 rears and 275/35 or 285/35 fronts. To me that seems waaaay too big for the rear. 315/30 rears with 275/35 fronts seems more appropriate and give it an even ride. A 35 profile makes it 1.3 inches taller in diameter than stock and it just seems excessive in size. Also I am .78in lowered will I have any issue with 315/30 or 35. I am hearing no but to go with 275 over 285 to be safe for the fronts with 20’s. I currently ride 19’s with 305/35 rears (50 offset)and 275/35 (35 offset) fronts with zero issue. The new wheels will be 52 offset rear and 34 fronts. . Thanks in advance.

This is 275/35R20 fronts and 305/35R20 rears. I am lowered about 1.25-1.50 in front and 1.00-1.25 in the rear. The first number is what the manufacturer states; the second is closer to what I experienced. I honestly don't think I could get any wider in the front and the rears would probably rub if I went 315's.

Which is why I would be going with 30 profile in the rears which makes it shorter in diameter than 305/35. To me the 35 profile is way too tall when compared to stock ride height. Looks great though. Although Velgen suggests 315/35 rears with 275/35 fronts. Also 315/30 rears makes the car ride almost exactly even if you pair it with 275/35 fronts in ride height front and rears along with having the exact same sidewall.

I'm sure there are plenty of people running the 315/30R20. Maybe one with post soon....you could also check the "aggressive wheel" thread. Are you going with the 315 to attempt to put more tread to the road or for looks? Have you looked at what tires you can buy in a 315/30R20? Discount Tire only has one tire in that size that I would consider, if for a daily driver.

I run 275/30/20s in the front, 305/30/20s in the rear. Lowered 1” all around. I have just under an inch of gap in the front, and just a hair over an inch gap in the rear.

Nice stance, great performance, and no rubbing issues, though I admit 35 series look better. I would get 285/30s for the front if I had a time machine — I would do 35s on 19s.

I wanted more rubber. I’m boosted now so I need a little more tire on the pavement I feel. I believe the GT500 also uses that setup of 30 profile rear 35 fronts. Obviously not apples to apples for fronts because it has wider fenders up front. But like I had said Velgen suggested that size to me with my setup. I would be doing NITTO NT555R2 in the rears and G2’s up front. I currently ride 305/35R19 rears and 275/35R19 fronts with NT05’s. Even NA FBO they didn’t hook. A 20in wheel in 305 is the exact same width as a 19. Zero difference in rubber to the pavement contact.

Sounds like a good plan, except Nitto doesn't list the 555R2 in a 315/30R20. They do have a 315/35R20.

BTW, all 305, 315, etc, you name it, are not the same width. Some manufacturers tend to run wider than others....for instance place a Michelin Pilot PS4 or Super Sport beside a Continental in the same size on the same wheel. The Continental tends to have more rounded shoulders and is not quiet as wide as the Michelin. If you stick to the same brand, your statement is true.

I'm just trying to be realistic about what is available. I do like your idea of a 315/30R20 though.

I get the vibe he is not interested in a 305 :)

I have SERIOUS reservations on 30% profile tires for the simple reason that I hit a hole on a bridge abutment at about 80 a couple weeks ago that I thought was gonna pop the 40%, said bad words and it hit hard and carried on, thanks Liz, thanks ADOT!

Need an oil change so we'll see how bad the alignment is off.

OP, after thinking about this. If you are going for the widest tire on the rear you can fit. I would suggest staying with a 19" wheel in the widest width and proper offsets that fit. You could then run a 325 or possibly a 345 on the rear.

345 on the rear.
345 on 19's will fit no problem. I woulda went that route but didn't wanna spend the cash on a 19x13 wheel haha. Frankly 325's on a 19 are way to heavy in my opinion.

You are right. Hitting a pot hole with a sidewall of 30 is usually not pretty. Ask C7 Corvette ZR1/Z06/Grandsport guys with 25 and 30 profiles how easy it is to bend the wheels :)

Not trying to be your Dads, but you guys know that tires move side to side (lateral deflection), right? Jamming the biggest tire into your wheel well with little clearance for fender and strut/shock rubbing might not be a great idea. Like women's jeans, there's tons of variation, with some running wider than others.
