I am considering trading my ST for a EcoBoost Premium Mustang 6spd.

I finally got an opportunity to drive one yesterday and was somewhat disappointed in the performance compared to my ST. My ST has a Stage 1 tune and I realize the Mustang weights more but I expected the acceleration to be more comparable.

The Mustang doesn't seem to have the low mid range torque the ST has and still lacks top end like the ST. I had the salesmen with me and he got kind of nervous when I started running it through the gears so this may all be in my head.

I understand the driving modes effect the throttle response. My question is could what I was experiencing be the result of not being in sport mode. I wasn't able to try the modes.

Any inputs from folks that have gone from an ST to the Ecoboost Mustang would be much appreciated.
I suggest finding an EB that has actually 93 octane in it and putting it in Sport+ mode.

Then if possible, finding someone who has a tune...because like Stormtrooper said, it really does make a difference according to all the reviewers, etc. Like ST said, this is the way the EB "SHOULD" come from the factory. I mean why release a crappy tuned EB?

I couldn't believe the different in throttle response in the GT I tested this weekend in normal mode and then going to sport+. Was like night and day.

Well this discussion is moot now.

I just purchased an Ecoboost Premium with the performance package and navigation in Competition Orange.

I will be picking it up on either Tuesday or Wednesday.

If you were like me with your ST, you gradually built it up and didn't realize what a difference all the mods made. When I took mine from stage 3 back to stock to trade on the GT, it felt like an absolute dog. No more 2nd gear wheel spin at will, boost falling off rapidly after 4k rpm, etc. The EB is pretty much the same, slightly neutered stock, but apparently a raving beast with a tune and mods.

Get yourself a Cobb and mods, you will be much happier.
