DSP: AudioControl DM-810What kind of amps and DSP will you guys be running with these? great speakers btw. They should sound great!
Right on! Looking forward to the install thread on this.DSP: AudioControl DM-810
Amplifiers: two JL Audio HD900/5
Thatās a killer package! Will you have to upgrade the alternator or use a lightening cap in the setup? I canāt wait to see and hear your take on the end result.DSP:
AudioControl DM810
Amps:
AudioControl 1200.6
AudioControl 800.1
AudioControl 300.4 (mini)
Everything sitting in my garage, just trying to find the time to install it.
Alternator eventually will be upgraded. Caps are just band-aids for power. I'm not building an SPL system even though I do have an NVX 10F digital cap in the garage.Thatās a killer package! The midbass and midrange locations do not need to be modified. You will need custom mounting brackets, but no big deal. Iāll take pics when I get home. The door panels are off, so itāll be easy to show. The 3ā midrange sits about 1/8ā-1/4ā above the door panel surface before the speaker basket bottoms out. I figure that a 1/4ā-1/2ā ABS plate will mount the midrange nicely and allow for a FAST ring. Are all of the Focal speakers drop-ins or will there be modifications needed? I figure the 6.5s will be, but Iām curious as to whether the mid range and mid-bass speaker mounting locations might require some massaging?
Here are the photos of the midbass and midrange in their respective locations (the window was fully down). As you can see, the midbass has no issues whatsoever. The midrange has a 1/8ā or less gap, but the speaker basket is touching the interior metal of the āpocketā it sits in (donāt want that!). The stock midrange speaker mount and the stock speaker are exactly 1ā in depth (door surface to top edge of speaker). A 1/2ā thick adapter plate + K2 speaker flange + K2 speakerās phase plug (sticks out above the speaker flange by almost 3 mm) should be about perfect. The midbass and midrange locations do not need to be modified. For those wanting a cheaper alternative, the Focal Flax Evo 3ā midrange will fit the same location. The K2 and Flax midranges have almost similar dimensions.
Killer setup, except for the DSP.. there are certainly much better DSPs out there for comparable money (at least in Germany, here the DM810 is in the ballpark of a higher end Helix DSP, but with a lot less features).DSP:
