Glad to know. Disabling mine will be the first thing I do the next time I hop in the car.

Thanks :)

Speaking of this crazy key fob, has anyone got in the car closed the door had the alarm arm? It's happened to me about 10 times in the two weeks I have had the car now... Crazy thing to me is it doesn't even arm or lock automatically when I walk away just when I get in the car.
Mine has done that once. I went to put my foot on the clutch to start it and the alarm went off!

I attempted to lock my keys in the trunk and the car popped the trunk open and gave a short beep of the horn.

I stopped at Target the other day and my keyfob was laying in the cupholder. I wasn't thinking and I opened the door and hit the inside lock button on the door and got out. I closed the door and my heart dropped!!! In that millisecond, I thought I was locked out. But the car honked twice and quickly unlock on its own.

If you have gotten in and put your foot on the brake and pressed the start button, you no longer need the key to drive, until you turn it off. So if your wife drops you off and you have the key, she can go to where she was going, but she won't be able to leave.

Does anyone know if you can get the remote key pad like you can for previous models? I have one hidden on my 13. I never take my keys out of the car lol. Though I don't leave them in the ignition and the car is garaged and not daily driven. Don't recommend it for everyone but worked for me. Would like to do the same in the 15 when it arrives.

I like the people insinuating that the keyless start is a bad thing.

..because starting the car with a key and then walking away is so much safer than keyless? lol.

I'm hard pressed to see how it's beneficial in any way, aside from some semblance of convenience. But if putting a key in the ignition is a chore for someone, I can just imagine what they think of a manual transmission, or a brake pedal

I'd be curious to see how physically far away someone can be with a keyfob, and have someone else start the car... ie, what's the proximity for ignition in the first place. Does it have to be inside the vehicle? 5 feet away?

Have you not driven any modern vehicle with this feature? Yes, you have to be inside the vehicle for it to start. Welcome to 2015. This technology has been going on for a long time, and now is becoming the industry standard.

Nobody said it's a chore. But when something is more convenient, reliable, and cheaper - why wouldn't you? Quite being silly and condescending by making the fob out to be a bad thing. It is the way of the future. They have them for homes as well now.

And, before you say "what if the battery dies?" or something to that effect: there is a backup key in the fob for the seldom (if ever) occasion that it does die, and you can hold the chip up close to the button and they will start.

You can't even unlock the doors unless the key is right next to it. If I'm at the driver's door and unlock it, the passenger door will remain locked even if someone touches the back of the door handle. Kind of inconvenient IMO, since you have to get in and press the unlock button every time.
