Flex fuel Tuning

Hey guys, so I have a 2017 6r80 gen 2 coyote with a bunch of mods and I’ve been tuning with Lund for a little while but I just found out they don’t do flex fuel tuning anymore. I’ve been doing a bunch of research surrounding it since I want to make that swap but all flex fuel in my 3-4 city area is 51-83% ethanol and after talking with my tuner they said the lowest I could safely go is 75%, so as of this moment I’m confused, do I run that risk (buying barrels of e-85 is not on the table) or do I find a new tuner/tune on my own, just a little lost here!

There are several tuners who will do a flex tune. You could do one yourself if so inclined but Ford tuning is a steep learning curve.

I’ve been trying to find tuning company’s/ tuners but they really haven’t born any fruit thus far but I will look again

I have no direct experience with him but Wengerd has a good reputation on this board and I believe he does flex tunes.

I believe Lund will do a user adjustable flex tune using PCMtec. Wengerd just started using PCMtec as well. I had Dan Estal at P1 Tuners do one for me. Its awesome. Get great personal service with him. And FYI, I am in the same boat with 51-83% only available near me. I have seen 65% and 69% at the station closest to my house. The car is much much faster than it was on the 93 tune.

It's just tuning software, it allows flex tuning for 3rd gen which all other tuning platforms have missing tables that are needed. Gen 2 is easier as any tuning software will work.

PCMTEC is a tuning software, like HP Tuners or SCT. They have a proprietary custom operating system that can enable flex fuel on the various supported applications. Tuners have been adopting it and can do a few different things with it.

I’ve used both the OEM gen 3 logic and the PCMTEC custom OS sensor-based flex fuel logic and I’m still using the PCMTEC logic, just for reference. I had no issues with the OEM gen 3 logic, but I like the sensor better for various reasons. I’d say the PCMTEC custom OS is worth the cost considering all its capabilities.

I have a 2015 with FBO I have a flex fuel tune by by Rob Shoemaker works great, although I have never used 91 or 93

Just get a e85 tester off Amazon and test fuel before filling up
