The way I Read it is this, Stepping up to the "Premium Trim" gives You "Premium "Door Trim" which I Interpret as the "Soft Touch" Upper Door Panels over the Hard Plastic which would come on V-6 Models and on Base Trim Equipped GT and Eco-Boost models. Which would make Complete Sense.
Ordering the Premier Trim with Color Accent Group 68b offers Unique Door Trim, the Key Word here being "Unique" which refers to the Door Panel Insert Trim, which Adds "Perforated" Inserts and Contrast Stitching to the Door Inserts. Standard Door Inserts on Premium Trim Equipped Cars get Solid/Smooth Door Inserts with Color Matched Stitching.
Makes sense to me...

OK, I hadn't seen the whole 68b thing going on, but after just going over the Order Guide I think I understand the Confusuon. Now before anyone Jumps Down My Throat, this is How I Interpret the Guide.

I agree with the above, which goes along with what I was told by a rep at a dealer training session. Premium trim will give you the soft touch materials. I will echo the above by stating this is nothing more than my interpretation of a currently vague subject. Grain of salt may be needed.

I just don't see Ford Only Offering the Soft Touch Door Trim on the Cars with the Color Accent Group. That will only be a Very Limited Number of Cars and doesn't make any sense. But offering Soft Touch Door Trim on the Premium Trim is just another Incentive to Step Up to a Premium.

Not to mention that 50th Appearance Pkg excludes 68B, so yeah, I don't see 68B being the 'soft touch' option.

I did see that pic, but from that view I assumed those were the CLOTH Recaro's.

Interesting that the cloth base & Recaro's have the same "sporty looking" pattern so that the back seat is the same. Don't think this was the case in 2013-14.

Certainly helps strengthen my desire for sticking with a base model and saving a bunch of $$ this time around !!

Base cloth upholstery in my 2004 V6 looked like cheap seat covers from Wally World, and the seats themselves were anything but comfortable !!

Doug
ATTN Josh Painter ...

I'm quoting my own quote, but just wanted to state that the seats in my 1994 and 1998 base model V6 Mustangs were MUCH NICER than the base seats in my 2004. I was really tempted to swap out the seats from my '98 before I sold it, but then thought I'd have foam / upholstery that would be 12 years / 250k miles old when I sold the 2004 (not good). In that 2004, I ended up swapping in 2004 Cobra F & R seat set from FRPP and those were the nicest seats I ever had in a car ... new owner of the '04 (when I got my 2011) was very appreciative of my seat swap too !!

The S197 seats are definitely a downgrade in comfort from the '03-04 Cobra seats, so I'd guess the "Volvo" touch was not quite there yet.

I also agree with the above... Notice the base model door panel below. The upper speaker grill is missing which would point to a different casting then the premium door panel with the grill. Would make more sense for ford to have 2 molds/processes ( key word here is "more") for base and premium then 3 processes for base, premium, then 68b. Either way it looks like I have found my first expensive mod for my 15...

Edit: Upon closer inspection notice the color difference between the top of the door panel and the lower section? Why would this be the case if the top of the panel is hard plastic like the lower half? Also, wouldn't premium door trim refer to the door insert with the all vinyl design and the unique stitching pattern?

Just something I noticed going to the store.... People bickering about the pony logo and the Ford emblem on the windshield.... You really cant notice the pony logo from the outside at all BUT if you look on the fake gas cap in the rear,,, GT or pony or whatever on the lower rim of the cap in classic lettering I see FORD So does it really matter about the ford emblem on the windshield when it is obviously no where else on the car?... to me it doesnt matter much but proud to have the Ford emblem there even though it is unmistakeable... So it seems to me that the black front lip, sideskirts, and rear bumper piece are included on all trim levels. Does anybody who's seen the cars know the difference between the GT base and Premium rear bumpers? The premium says it comes with a "rear diffuser"...just trying to figure out what the base rear looks like.

The rear bumper valence on the premium is black with the color accent piece. On base model cars the rear valence is all one color.

No problem! That's likely the same thing I will be doing.

I know the diffuser on the premium is multiple pieces, but I don't care about that enough to upgrade to premium. Plastidip can at least be reversed. I'll wait for an RTR valence to come out most likely. That should be sexy.

Good thing it's not really noticeable on the Guard. You can't even just add the black insert either, you'd have to replace the entire bumper cover.
