I think we who ordered it retail are safe. I believe Lucy would have some explaining to do if a car ordered for a certain customer was not sold to that actual customer. I believe the dealer gets penalized and looses an allocation (or something like that). My friend, a fleet manager said this is what happens. Some shady dealers ordering cars under made up names to get more cars delivered then sell them to anyone. From what I'm told we retail customers will probably get a call from Ford at some point checking to see if we are the person who ordered it.

Well that's what I was told anyway I sure somebody would love to correct me ;)

I hope so, I think Tricia would personally drive up and beat the crap out any dealer that did that to anyone on this forum with a retail order :)

My salesman told me that the dealer actually can gain an additional allocation the following year for each retail. It appears it's in the best interest of the dealer if this is the case, especially if these cars become extremely red hot sellers. Plus with a retail order it's essentially a guaranteed unit for the month and they really don't tie up anything to move it.

Exactly why I'm not driving a '14 TP/Recaro GT that I had a $2K deposit on. That was a car that sat on the lot, someone came in and paid a lot more for it. There will be violence if my ordered '15 with my name on the window sticker does not go home with me. :paddle:
Did the dealer at least refund you your deposit? Did they not notify you when the car arrived to result in the car sitting on the lot? I've honestly thought about whether that could happen with mine after a salesman from a different dealer told me that if someone else walks up to the car and is ready to buy at that moment, they'll give him the sale even if you're the one who placed the order.

My car was ordered as dealer stock and I'm a little concerned about this, lol.

Oh, to be more clear, I didn't order it, I was disappointed, it was on their lot over the winter and gave me a deal that was too good to be true, they wanted to move it but about 2 weeks before I was to pick it up '14's started to dry up and someone paid more for it. Yes I got my money back, it was at a dealer 5 hours away so I wasn't that upset.

Ah I see, well at least you've moved on to the S550 and I'm sure it's going straight to you once it arrives

Ecoboost Engine Sound

Yep. Sounds is going to be one for me also. Right now, after all these months of videos and pictures and seeing it in person, I've changed my decision and will be getting a GT. I just think the GT is going to bring the better experience and I feel the EB is going to be all over the place.
You know that the engine sound in the EcoBoost is amplified through the car's speakers right? That's been confirmed by Ford. They use a mic in the engine compartment and active noise cancelling (listed as a 'feature' for the EcoBoost) and then play the engine noise through the speakers to make it louder. So it will sound pretty good (for a 4) inside the car, and pretty much like a Civic outside, unless you mod the exhaust.

I don't see anything in this product guide description about a microphone in the engine compartment. Would you mind pointing to your information source for that? Thanks.

I read it recently in an interview with one of the Ford design team guys - I should clarify, while he DEFINITELY said that the engine noise is amplified through the speakers, I just assumed there had to be a mic in the engine compartment. Could be that they do it with the mic in the headliner and cancel out all but the engine noise that makes it into the passenger compartment, and then amplify that (but sounds unlikely to me).

I'll post the link if I can find it.

The Honda Accord has this system, many disable the module or remove it because of problems associated with the sound system frequency's competing with engine & road/tire frequency's...

"With the Ecoboost engine we have both active noise cancellation, and we also amplify the existing engine sound order. We don’t create an artificial sound, we don’t pluck one off the shelf, we bring in the real sound, process it, and play it through the car’s speakers. Today’s V6 sounds fantastic, and although the Ecoboost won’t sound like a V8, it won’t sound like it doesn’t belong in a Mustang either."

I assumed they had to have one there since they are amplifying the engine sound through the speakers, but maybe they are only amplifying the sound that enters the passenger compartment.

Not sure if the Ecoboost has the sound tube or not that allows engine noise into the cabin. If so, maybe they are using noise cancellation to cancel out background noise and enhance the engine sound

I thought it was the BMW Ms that had the engine noise piped into the sound system.
