There's bound to be issues with the chip dilemma and prior COVID work force reductions and closures that occurred across the globe.

Maybe the chip dilemma will cause some type of reform or Companies getting a redundant process in place in the event the primary goes down or is delayed.

Don't forget all the steps in the supply chain. The components that need these chips - it's not like they are made / assembled in the Ford plant. They are assembled by suppliers. Suppliers order chips based on component orders from manufacturers like Ford. It's not an instant or even an on/off kind of thing.

Also have to keep in mind different states, different COVID lock down regulations and some parts of the supply chain might have been ruled "Essential" and some not. All depends on location / local and state governments.

Those that shutdown now have to rehire workers. If they can't get former workers, they now have to hire new workers and train them.

Two major chips plants being damaged / destroyed didn't help. HUGE increases in home and business electronics because of lock downs (Working from home / staying at home) didn't help (more demand on chip supplies) didn't help.

It's what happens when you literally try to shut down a global economy / supply chain. You can't just instantly turn it back on.

I work for one of the chip companies. The above is spot on.

One other step I dont think has been mentioned previously: supplies & equipment that chip manufacturers need to build chips are also in high demand and short supply. The ripples just keep spreading...
